Viscaya Museum and Gardens

Like I said last week, I really want to show that Miami is more than beaches and shopping- there are amazing places... like this one. The last time I visited this "museum and garden" was in 2007 so I was super excited of going again, I love it because you feel you are in a totally different place.Vizcaya was the winter residence of American industrialist James Deering from Christmas 1916 until his death in 1925. When it was built, the Miami population was around 10,000 and 1,000 were working on this project! The house was intended to appear as an Italian estate that had stood for 400 years and had been occupied and renovated by several generations of a family. It has 34 decorated rooms with 15th through 19th century antique furnishings and art objects. Sadly, you can't take pictures inside the house but the gardens and the bay view is GORGEOUS! I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves; but if you want to read more about it, click here. XOXO
