We have been traveling a bit the past few months, but we came back just in time for Miami Art Week.
So let’s start with this:
WHAT’S MIAMI ART WEEK?
Every December, Miami becomes the center of attention in the art world. The city hosts over 20 art fairs, 1,200 galleries and thousands of artists. This means the city attracts art collectors, buyers, art lovers, tourists, celebrities, and more.
I’ve been living in Miami for over 12 years and it’s amazing to see how this event continues to grow and grow. It really shows that Miami is more than beautiful beaches and 80s movies.
During this week, the city is absolutely packed- and everyone. There are so many events going that it can be absolutely hectic to head to one gallery to the other. There’s also no parking ANYWHERE. So enter: Uber to the rescue.
This year, Uber set up sculptures by Emil Alzalmora not only as convenient pick-up and drop-off points around the city but also at the right, popular, chic spots. This made extremely easy to get around thanks to Uber’s flexible options.
But since we are talking art, let’s also talk about these sculptures. Emil shared that the sculptures not just reference the literal act of movement but represent motion as a metaphor relating to human progress and growth.
Since we were riding with the carseat/stroller (it’s a two-in-one, stay tune for the review fellow mommies) , we requested an uberXL (give me all the extra space with a baby!)….and we got ready to explore a few exhibitions around Wynwood.
Wynwood is one of my favorite places in Miami. It’s a bit of our backyard, so Miami Art Week is very exciting because it’s the time where a lot of walls change and the vibe is even more special. Walking around, we found an interactive gallery with a ball pit and artsy swings - perfect for Nico (and the artist was there SO excited to see people enjoying his art). See? It can be very kid-friendly too. There’s absolutely something for everybody.

Have you been to Miami Art Week?
I'm going to start with the cliché (just in case you found me recently, or even through this article) I started blogging way too long ago (2009) , I've learned A LOT by making several mistakes, AND I've seen the blogging industry changed in all ways possible. I'm finishing an article with the 10 mistakes I made as a new blogger, and not knowing my worth was definitely one of them. So let's get started!
Because of my "OG" status, as some name it, many blogger friends that are relatively new to the industry always come up to me asking me if they should charge for X, Y, or Z. And the answer, no matter what, is YES! YES! and 100 times YES!
If a brand reaches out to YOU, they found some sort of value IN YOU. It might have been your amazing pictures. Maybe they liked your witty way of writing or they loved your product reviews. When a brand reaches out, it isn't by chance (or it shouldn't be by chance). They probably did their research and spent countless hours finding people that align with their brand and messaging.
A few months ago, a big-tier blogger discouraged "small" bloggers from not following their dreams because they might not have X amount of followers. She actually said NOT to charge if you had less than 100k. It just made my blood boil because that's simply not true.
you are never "too small" to charge on social media. Period
Let's break it down. Let's imagine you have ZERO followers (just to exaggerate, we all know that moms and aunts make great fans..so let's make it 3 followers), and a brand contacts you for content creation: IGNORE the number of followers in your profile and take all these things (and the hours they take) into consideration.
- PRE- PRODUCTION:
Inspiration board, buying props, location scouting, talent scouting, and equipment rental.
- PRODUCTION
Hair and makeup, photographer, gas and parking, and modeling
- POST PRODUCTION:
Editing, writing, proof-reading, and social media planning.
We are talking about a production that would cost the brand THOUSANDS of dollars. So why shouldn't YOU charge? Even with absolutely no followers.
Your worth is more the number on your profile, it's your time, effort, talent, and creativity. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
I'm reading this book called BIG MAGIC- well, I have been reading it slowly since forever. Don't judge me. It's just that every little story gives me so much to think about that I like to take my time. I
recently read about "ORIGINALITY VS AUTHENTICITY" and I wanted to share it with you gals.
When I was asked about the "key to success" when becoming a blogger, I would always talk about originality- finding what would make you unique or that gap of "what has never been seen before".
And I was wrong, it isn't originality what makes you unique is AUTHENTICITY. Whatever you chose to do in life probably has been done before (and by far more experienced, talented, and overall "better" people), but nobody has ever done it like YOU.
So if you ever doubt yourself because there is someone already out there doing it, remember that if it comes from your heart, without trying to imitate anybody or fake originality, it will work. I promise! or at least you will enjoy every second of it!

Unconsciously (or sometimes consciously), we are always rating and comparing each other in “numbers”. I’ve been treated differently for having 200k followers and I’ve been treated differently for JUST having 200k followers. That number doesn’t instantly tell me someone's journey, it doesn’t tell me their hard work, how humble they are, or even their talent. I’m extremely thankful for every person that follows me, but the goal should never be the FAME! You are more than a number! 🖤🖤

He estado en situaciones donde me tratan diferente por tener 200k seguidores; y en otras donde me tratan diferente por SOLO tener 200k seguidores. Pero luego me recuerdo a mi misma que ese numero no dice directamente nada de nadie; no dice de su trabajo, su talento, su esfuerzo...ni de su persona. I live in Downtown Miami; I’m very close to popular areas like South Beach, Brickell, Midtown, and Wynwood. However, driving a couple of miles to end up 15 minutes trying to find nearby parking or having to pay $20+ for parking is not worth it. Reason why Uber takes me to the places I want or need to be; it’s my go-to when meeting my girlfriends for brunch, taking pictures, or heading to a blog-related event.
One of my favorite areas is Wynwood. I love everything it has to offer: food, fashion, culture, art, etc. So today I’m going to take you with me to this area and share my favorite boutiques, cafes, and places to take pictures.
If I’m not in a hurry and I’m riding alone (or with just Gabe), I request uberPOOL. This option lets you hit the road with other riders around you that are going your way too. Since you share the cost of the ride, everyone gets the best deal!

Una de mis zonas favoritas es Wynwood ya que tiene mucho que ofrecer: sea comida, arte, moda, o cultura. Hoy las voy a llevar conmigo y mostrarles algunas de mis boutiques favoritas, cafés, y lugares para tomar fotos.
Si no estoy apurada y estoy sola (o solo con Gabe), pido el uberPOOL. Esta opción te deja dividir el costo con otras personas que están cerca de ti y en tu camino. Es la manera más económica de llegar a tu destino.
You know when you forget you have certain item, but then you find it at the end of your drawer and then yo can't stop wearing it. Yeah, that's what happened to me with these ripped white boyfriend jeans.
I remember when I got them I thought they were so so ripped- trends change and I don't find them as crazy ripped (maybe it's me who is getting crazier).
For an all white look, I paired the jeans with my favorite off-the-shoulder top. I've worn them SO MANY TIMES. I should check and do a remix. What do you guys think?
I wore this for a cheat day doing some errands. A little friend chicken and iced tee didn't hurt anybody! It was such a casual day but I loved the colors of this photos and I really wanted to share them!

Recuerdo que cuando los comprĂ© los veĂa extremadamente rotos- no se si es como las tendencias han cambiado tanto y ahora se ven TAN rotos, los veo normales (¡dĂganme que no soy la Ăşnica!!)
Para un look todo blanco, los combiné con mi top favorito con los hombros al descubierto. No estoy segura si he hecho un remix con este top. Lo que si se es que lo he usado hasta más no poder.

Cuando era chiquita, usĂ© zapatos ortopĂ©dicos hasta los 5 años. Recuerdo que pasear por los centros comerciales con mi mamá y quedarme embelesada viendo los zapatos en las tiendas y soñando con algĂşn dĂa usar diferentes estilos.
Hoy estoy muy feliz de colaborar con DSW para mostrarte mis 5 tendencias favoritas para esta temporada. ¡Definitivamente hay una para cada personalidad y son todas muy versátiles!
1. Espadrilles:
Espadrilles are the go-to style for Spring and Summer- especially if you are heading to any tropical vacation. This pair from Indigo RD is only $39.95 and it goes with absolutely all your favorite Summer outfits. I love the chic ankle tie too. This time I paired these light canvas shoes with my “exploring-a-new-city” outfit: some cool high waisted black jeans, a simple striped tee, a red bandana around the neck, a denim jacket, and a straw boater hat! You can also wear it with a flowy dress over your bathing suit or with a floral romper- so versatile!

Este par es de Indigo RD ($39.95) va con todo tipo de outfits veraniegos. Esta vez lo combiné con unos jeans negros, una camisa de rayas, mi bandana roja, y mi sombrero favorito... este es como el look perfecto para explorar una nueva ciudad. También puedes usarlo con un vestido suelto sobre tu traje de baño o con un romper de flores- versatilidad al máximo.
2.Athleisure
The sneaker trend isn’t going anywhere…and I’m not complaining, ‘cause my feet aren’t either! Even though I’m only 5’2, I absolutely love the “Athleisure” trend and how it’s appropriate to wear sneakers basically everywhere! You can go for a classic pair of white sneakers but I feel this season is the time to be a little more daring- these satin blush Madden Girl sneakers are EVERYTHING. Think pom poms, perforated leather, bows, embroidery, etc.
I went for a comfortable grey shirtdress with a super cool floral bomber that matched my blush sneakers perfectly. You can also wear this edgy pair with boyfriend jeans and a light sweater or white overalls and a cute crop top.
La moda de los zapatos de gomas o sneakers no va a ningĂşn lado.. y ¡no me quejo! (mis pies tampoco se quejan!!). Aunque solo mido un poco más de medio metro, amo la tendencia atlĂ©tica y como podemos usar sneakers para todos lados. Las temporadas pasadas vimos muchos sneakers blancos sencillos pero este año arriĂ©sgate un poco más. Por ejemplo, estos de un tono rosa pálido con una bolita peluda son de Madden Girl.
Inspirada por el color de los zapatos, quise usarlos con un bomber floral del mismo color rosado. También tengo pensado usarlos con unos jeans estilo boyfriend o con una braguita blanca y crop top.
3. Embellishment
Add excitement to a basic shoe style with sequins, pompoms, embroidery, you name it! I love pumps and I love this modern take on pumps with its denim color, chic block heel (that’s also embroidered!!). This Jessica Simpson pair is definitely a head turner. You can wear them with denim (all denim with pops of red is so perfect for Spring). I can’t wait to wear it with a light white midi dress!!
Dale un toque divertido a los zapatos clásicos con lentejuelas, pompones, bordados, etc. A mi me encantan los tacones cerrados y este de mezclilla con bordado y tacĂłn grueso me pareciĂł . Este par es de Jessica Simpson - puedes usarlo con un look completo de mezclilla (a mi me encanta todo denim con los toqes de rojo!), ¡pero tambiĂ©n quedarán bellas con un vestido midi blanco!
4. Minimal Sandals
Some days you just want your outfit to shine; and that’s when a minimalist sandal does its job! Go for a nude minimal sandal to elongate your legs! Because I am still obsessed with velvet, I had to get these CL by Laundry Velvet Sandals; the color is perfect, the kitten heel is hotter than ever (and oh-so comfortbale!), and the price? Just $39.95!
The luxe velvet texture inspired me to wear this for a night-out with the hubby. They go perfectly with a blush metallic skirt, white top, and statement earrings! You can also dress them down with jeans or a pastel colored romper!
Hay dĂas que quieres que tu outfit sea totalmente el protagonista; y ahĂ es cuando las sandalias minimalistas hacen su trabajo. Por ejemplo, los dĂas que quieras alargar tus piernas, busca unas del color de piel. Yo, que todavĂa sigo obsesionada con el terciopelo, escogĂ estas de CL by Laundry Velvet Sandals; com pueden ver, me encanta este tono rosa y el tacĂłn bajo las hace cĂłmodas pero elegantes para cualquier ocasiĂłn.
La textura elegante del terciopelo me inspiró para usarlas con una falda metalizada del mismo color; un top blanco, y unos aretes muy llamativos. Pero estos tacones también visten a unos jeans sencillos o a un romper de tonos pasteles.
5. Slides
Ok. I think this is my favorite trend for Spring 2017!! This style is backless and open toe, and they can be easily worn casually and formally. These red slides from Aldo add a little height (which I always appreciate!), and they are so comfortable! They also come in tan and black, but this shade of orangy-red makes a statement no matter how you wear them. While shooting them, I wanted to wear them with absolutely everything! You are going to see them a lot on the blog! They look amazing with cocktail dress..and well, more of a hipster-looking outfit!
Ok, creo que esta es mi favorita . Este estilo es el más fácil de usar tanto en ocasiones casuales como formales. Estas son de Aldo y ni se imaginan lo cĂłmodas que son (pero me dan un par de centĂmetros extra, cosa que siempre aprecio). Vienen en tan, negras, y en este tono de rojo-anaranjado (que se ve bellĂsimo con lo que utilices). Me costĂł mucho escoger que outfit porque básicamente querĂa usarlas con todo. Estoy segura que las verán muchĂsimo en el blog.

The past Thursday I attended an event at Cafeina (Wynwood) with Cover FX and an amazing group of media, bloggers, and influencers. I really liked the concept of Cover FX Custom Cover Drops; where you can basically personalize all your makeup. For example, if your foundation is a little too light or too dark, you add a drop and it will make it your exact shade. A makeup expert told me my exact shade (N35 in case you want a reference). Since the whole concept was about personalizing, there was a Sangria bar where you could add different fruits and flavors to your drink. Well, about my look…I'm all about darker looks lately. I guess this season, the whole "SPRING" thing with pastels is not really happening for me. So I ended up wearing an all-black look with a gorgeous embellished kimono from Asos. What do you think!? El jueves fui a un evento en CafeĂna (Wynwood) junto a Cover FX y un grupo increĂble de bloggers y medios. El concepto de Cover FX "Custom Cover drops" es personalizar tu maquillaje con solo unas gotitas de este producto. Ese dĂa me dijeron que tono exacto soy (N35 por si les interesa la referencia); y ya quiero probarlo. Estas gotitas puedes agregarlas a ese maquillaje que tal vez es muy claro o muy oscuro y lo transforma a tu color exacto. Como el tema era personalizar, tambiĂ©n habĂa una barra de sangrĂa donde podĂas agregarle lo que quisieses. Pronto les contarĂ© bien estilo reseña del producto, pero me pareciĂł muy interesante. En cuanto a mi look, yo estoy 100% anti-primavera…lo que quiero usar son looks más grunge y oscuros. ¡Por eso optĂ© por una faldeta + camisa negra con un kimono hermoso! ¡Les mando un abrazo grande!!

Yo soy de las que se la pasa buscando piezas a la moda pero a buen precio…y que sean de buena calidad- creo que es algo que nuestra generaciĂłn no solo busca, sino espera de las marcas. Por eso les querĂa contar de una nueva marca en Lord & Taylor llamada Design Lab con la que voy a estar trabajando estos meses de primavera. Y les tengo que confesar…me encantĂł la colecciĂłn! Hay tantas piezas que me encantaron…¡y el precio promedio es $64!
Les cuento de mi outfit. A mi me encantan las falda-short…¡son tan cĂłmodas! El es estampado de esta falda-short es lindĂsimo; es perfecto para ir a la playa o para salir con tus amigas (todo depende de como lo combines). En esta ocasiĂłn optĂ© por un look cĂłmodo y lo combinĂ© con una camisa blanca que tiene una textura acolchada. Y finalmente…si, estoy usando unas sandalias que critiquĂ© mucho. Pero nunca digas nunca. Yo cuando era chiquita decĂa que nunca me iba a poner cosas a la cintura o accesorios dorados…y esas son de mis tendencias favoritas hoy en dĂa! El detalle de cristalitos le da un toque más femenino a estas sandalias toscas.
