The Best for our Pups: a fresh take on pet food

Friday, September 14, 2018

Sponsored by Freshpet. All opinions are my own.

Chiki has been in our lives for over 10 years. He has been with me through college, grad-school, marriage...and now he is the best with our baby. Just like he has been the best pup ever; I, as a loving pet parent, want the best for him!

Reason why I was so excited for him to try (and LOVE) Freshpet’s natural and healthy dog food.  I love how they are committed to providing the best for pets; Freshpet uses fresh, whole ingredients, and gently cooked without preservatives or additives. The food is kept refrigerated because THAT’s where meats belong!

I knew that Chiki was going to love it…what I didn’t know was HOW MUCH! Taking these pics was such a fun challenge because he kept doing all the tricks he knows (trick = delicious reward!). Then as soon as I filled his plate with the “Fresh From The Kitchen”, he devoured it so fast that we had to refill it to get make sure we got the right shot. I mean, I’m sure he didn’t complain.

We are excited to have incorporated Freshpet into his diet; it gives me peace of mind that Chiki doesn’t have by-products, corn, wheat nor any artificial colors or flavors. You can actually see the real fruits and veggies..and smell the fresh chicken!

You can find Freshpet in the refrigerated section of your local grocery store. Click here to learn more!

Short Walks with Nico and Chiki

Tuesday, July 31, 2018

Having a baby puts everything into perspective and priorities in check. However, it was really important to me to not only become a mom, but to also continue being a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter…and even a fur-mom to Chiki!

Sometimes a little walk with the stroller and Chiki can be a little too complicated; reason why I knew I needed a carrier and I’m ABSOLUTELY loving the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Mini. It’s perfect for the early months when the babies need a lot of closeness; but we also need to be hands-free. It’s VERY easy to use; I love that I don’t need help and it takes me just a few seconds to put it in. Plus, it has a few adjustable buckles (so you can adapt it as your baby grows).

Click HERE to purchase your own baby carrier mini in all different fabrics and colors. I hope you love it just as much as I do.

BESOS

Exploring Miami with BMW

Saturday, August 19, 2017

This has been one of my favorite collaborations this year, because it was really out of my comfort zone and pushed me to bring to bring you different content. The whole idea with this Instagram campaign with BMW was to show you around Miami and embracing the city I live in.

The adventure started with the M-Track Day; where we got to race many BMW cars. Then BMW South Florida lent me a car for a little over a month drive around. My first stop was Wynwood, since we ended up taking photos I shared it as a blogpost HERE- and then we did a mini road trip to Islamorada, which also had its own blogpost since it was more of a trip (see it HERE).

But the recommendations kept coming on Instagram and I want to share them over here too!

_____________________________________________________

What I'm wearing: Honey Bum romper, H&M clogs, and Forever 21 sunglasses

A must-stop was Calle Ocho in Little Havana for our last stop with @BMWusa 💃🏽💃🏽 From Domino games happening everywhere, to live Salsa music and cafecito on every corner... this is the heart of MIAMI ❣️ Let me tell you about our favorite place for a casual date: Azúcar! 🍦🍦(because they have the best ice cream flavors like "Café con Leche," "Galleta María," and "Dulce de Leche"). Also, in the back, you can see "Ball and Chain": best place to dance the night away!

_____________________________________________________

What I'm Wearing: Honey Bum white lace romper, and ZeroUV sunglases.
Donut floating from Amazon.

A true Miamian avoids South Beach; instead we prefer going to Mid Beach or North Miami beach for quieter beach time! 🏖 Last weekend I headed there with a couple of friends, few floaties, and lots of sunscreen! My recommendation is to try to park around 75th and Collins, there is a big parking lot right across the beach and there are gorgeous pastel art deco buildings that really capture the beauty of this city!

_____________________________________________________

When it's time for some luxury shopping: the Design District is the place to be. Taking advantage of the mid-year designer sales, I did a bit of credit card damage (I got tons of questions, it's the Celine blue bag you have seen around!!). But iIt's not only about the haute design, there are great restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, galleries, and bars in this beautiful area.

Not So Perfect, So WHAT?

Friday, August 4, 2017

When I started blogging, there was a group of people who called lifestyle bloggers "ego-bloggers" and I absolutely HATED the term.

I didn't, and I still don't, share my outfits to get compliments.

When you go to any blogger's comment section, they are filled with "so pretty" "OMG perfect"and "#goals" - and yes, I'm guilty of leaving these comments too.

But a big part of me is tired of saying "thank you". Because I am not perfect, I'm full of flaws, my life is not goals. So why am I still part of the "superficial ego-blogging" community? Because I want to inspire you to wear that top differently, to not be afraid to try a new trend,  to not be afraid to be YOU.

At the beginning I thought my focus had to be only fashion and opening myself was scary because of the harsh criticism of the internet. But no, I want to encourage fellow bloggers to write more things from the heart, to avoid captions like "today's #ootd"; tell me your story, share your experiences, the good, the bad, the ugly- this is what blogging is about. And as a reader, I want you guys to read, to be more than a "oh-so-pretty" commenter, to share with bloggers your experiences, your thoughts, your critiques. Let's make this a community again!

I'm in HENRI BENDEL'S FALL 2017 Catalog and Store!

Monday, July 31, 2017

This photo with #ChikiTheMaltese is on @henribendel 's FALL 2017 catalog!!

I'm so so so excited!!  A few months ago, Henri Bendel reached out to be part of their catalog! I absolutely love when brands fully embrace influencers and relatable style.

The Influencer Collection is all about embracing your style because you are unique and your handbag should reflect your personality too!! You can add mix and match pins, patches, charms...the possibilities are endless!

Here you can see how I added the star pins, my initials to the strap and the fun emoji charm.

Hope you like the pics and the looks!

Exploring with BMW...mini Roadtrip to Islamorada

Friday, July 21, 2017

Ok. By now you all know how much I love #ChikiTheMaltese💓🐶; and leaving him alone the whole day to be at the beach breaks my heart. Reason why over the years, I've found some great dog-friendly beaches in South Florida: Hobie Beach and Haulover Beach are great. 🚙🚙

A couple of weeks ago, we decided to go to Islamorada. It's a few hours away from Miami but definitely worth it! All the beaches heading to Islamorada are great spots, you can park right in front of it with everything you need! Besides some snacks and drinks, I brought this float that Chiki absolutely loved!

He got in the water no problem, swam to me and we were hanging in the float for a while. Then he was like "mom, let's just go home". So much fun! We also ate on the way, I need to stop writing down places because I might remember when my clothes from 2008 is from, but not restaurants.

Hope you like the pics! Chiki says HI!!!

p.d: my set from Honey Bum is on sale!! Get it for just $32!

10 RANDOM CHIKI FACTS- FurMama

Monday, June 12, 2017

I got Chiki in 2008, after a long crazy internet search (and after almost getting scammed a few times).  I love being a "fur mama", it has thought me so many things about life and about myself. Today I'm going to share 10 random "Chiki" stories.

1.  I support adoption 100%, and I know my next pup will be adopted. I guess when I was 18 I was naive and I didn't think adoption first. However, I was very against "pet-shops". I wanted a dog that came from a good home, not treated as a product in a store. So yes, I bought him (but as the frugal gal I am, I got him for a great price, AND from a good home)

2. I had the option to pick between him and two other boys. One was crazy, bitting my hair and jumping around. The other was hiding underneath the sofa (super shy!). Chiki was in between, and he is still the most perfect dog in the whole world.

3. In my previous home, I used to live by a lake where we would take him to play. When he was a puppy: one time he ran following some ducks and he ended up in the lake. I'm never going to forget his face, he was so confused (he had no idea how or why he got wet).

4. His name is Chiki but originally his name was "Yogi", yes like Yogi the bear. He was so tiny that we would called him "Chiquito" and it just stuck

5.   The first time I bathed him I couldn't stopped laughing. He looked like a little rat. He still hates bathes, but he hates the blow-dryer even more.

6. I always dreamed of keeping one of his puppies. However, all the female dogs we met were neutered so he never had puppies. We got him neutered last year because he was starting to suffer from the prostate (for exactly that, not being busy enough in the sexy department).

7. He only plays with two toys. A ball and a plush dog that he humps. The ball is like his girlfriend, if he can't find it he goes crazy (we have tried giving him other balls, nope, that's the one he wants!)

8. He is the most friendly dog ever. Since we travel a lot for work, we have to leave him with friends and family- and some of our friends fight to take care of him. However, he gets very jealous if there are other dogs around, and he doesn't understand little kids (or why they pet him so weirdly haha).

9. He has given us a few scares. One time he swallowed something plastic that got stuck in his intestines and he could have died if we had waited a few more days to take him to the vet.

10. When he was little, he would wake me up to take him out. Now he just LOVES to cuddle. If he sees that I'm waking up, he just gets closer so I can cuddle him. It's the cutest thing ever.

Do you have a dog? a pet? Tell me something fun or cute about them!

10 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR MORNING ROUTINE LESS IRRITATING

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

This post was sponsored by OPTI-FREE®. All opinions are my own.

I’m not naturally a morning person; I’m the type of person that prefers sleeping until noon. But we all know that the early bird gets the worm...so let’s start our mornings with a big smile on our face and try to make mornings less irritating.

1) A GOOD MORNING STARTS THE NIGHT BEFORE
If you can, do as much as you can the night before. You can plan your outfit, blow dry your hair, pre-prep breakfast, organize your bag, etc. This means no running around in the morning...and even sleeping more calmly because you know everything is ready to go as soon as you wake up.

2) STOP SNOOZING
We all do it: “5 more minutes PLEASE!!”; but this doesn’t help. Those 5 (then 10, and then 15) extra minutes of sleep are not enough...and they turn into stressing out about being late. Just be honest with yourself, set an attainable alarm, wake up instantly, and brush your teeth. The worst part of sleeping is waking up, so why do it many times a day!

3) EXERCISE IN THE MORNING
We have all been there. You get home from work and there are 1,000 excuses not to exercise...but what about doing it in the morning? Exercising in the morning gives you an extra dose of energy, will keep your stress level down...and it has been proven that doing cardio before breakfast is even more efficient for weight loss. You can also try sleeping in your workout clothes so as soon as you wake up, you are ready for a walk...and ready to conquer the world!

4) DRINK A FULL GLASS OF WATER
After a long night (6-8 hours) without water, your body is mildly dehydrated...this causes fatigue and irritation! If you are feeling too tired, what you might need is more water...as simple as that!

5) ELIMINATE ILF* Irritating Lens Face
I started wearing contacts 10 years ago. I put them on before applying makeup or heading out to exercise...and I take them out before removing makeup. I’m always looking for all-day comfort, nothing is as irritating as having dry, dirty or uncomfortable contact lenses. I’ve been using OPTI-FREE® Puremoist® for years now to clean and disinfect my contact lenses because it keeps my lenses comfortable and helps me prevent Irritating Lens Face (ILF).*
*ILF: a fun term to refer to the face you make when dry, dirty or uncomfortable contact lenses irritate your eye, resulting in winks, eye rolls, and general faces of discomfort that can really ruin a moment.

6) EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST
Just like #4, our body’s metabolism and blood sugar is at its lowest in the morning. Solution: a breakfast to re-energize us! Two easy breakfasts:
- Banana pancakes: mix one rip
ened banana with one egg and cinnamon and you have healthy pancakes with no flour! These are my favorite.

- Egg Frittatas: mix two eggs with your fave veggies and potatoes and put them in a cupcake holder.

Bake at 350°F until they turn golden...so delicious!

7) SLAY A 5-MINUTE BEAUTY/MAKEUP ROUTINE
You don’t have to be 45 minutes doing your makeup—makeup should be about enhancing your favorite features and not transforming your face.
For the everyday life, you don’t need more than 10 min. (hey, take as long as you need for that wedding you are attending next month!). Set up a small makeup kit for the everyday stuff so you don’t have to be looking for the products you want. It’s all about looking like you spent a lot of time when you actually didn’t. Go for bb cream, concealer where necessary, blush (leave contouring for special occasions), mascara, neutral shadows, brow powder, and brown eyeliner.

8) MORNING PLAYLIST
If you need a little something-something while getting ready, put some music on.

9) DAILY AFFIRMATION
Before starting your day, repeat a positive affirmation—something in your life you want to adjust, or replace. It can be a simple “I can do it” or “I’m grateful for my life”—but these affirmations help reduce cortisol levels by more than 40% during stressful situations.

10) REWARD YOURSELF
If you were able to wake up at least 5 minutes earlier, take those 5 minutes for yourself; maybe enjoy your coffee or tea while reading the news, try a new braid, or meditate by the bed. You deserve it!

Happy Holidays. Love, Nany - with Shutterfly

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

As the holidays approach, I’ve been trying to do all the holiday shopping on time. I used to be the one running around the mall on December 23rd.

When giving and receiving gifts, I appreciate gifts that are thoughtful and personal. I love when a gift screams: “This reminded me of you” instead of “Here’s a generic gift”.

Today I’m partnering with Shutterfly to show you some of the personalized gifts I’ve gotten for friends and family (and for my husband, myself, and the house). I’ve been using Shutterfly to print photo books and stationery for so long- but I love how the site makes gifting so easy, you can personalize your gifts with or without photos.

Holiday Gift Guide 2016: Beauty

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

Happy Holidays everyone! How’s your Holiday shopping going?

This year I decided to bring back my Holiday gift guides. The past years I’ve always started with BEAUTY- why? Because they are basically the easiest gifts to give  since you don’t have to worry about sizing. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make every gift thoughtful and personalized.

Also these gifts are great for yourself- every Holiday I like gifting myself something special (I wrap it and everything). I believe that if you have been eyeing something for a while,  you worked hard to save for it, why not treat yourself too? You deserve it!

1. Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer
When I moved to the U.S, the first thing I bought was a hairdryer. I was 17 and I learned how to blow-dry my curls- a thing I still do at least every week.  As soon as I saw the Dyson Supersonic, I was drawn to it and I couldn’t wait to try it (and now I couldn’t wait to recommend it…this is the future in hairdryers!!).

The Dyson hairdryer is small and light (perfect for traveling), it dries ultra fast (which is important when you have as much hair as I do- now that I see how quick I can blow-dry my hair..I’m thinking about growing it out again!). It also has 3 speed settings (fast, regular, and gentle drying), and 4 precise heat settings (212F, 176F, 140F, and constant cold).

Miami Summers...with Lucky Brand and SheKnows

Monday, May 23, 2016

This post is sponsored by Lucky Brand and SheKnows Media

Our Miami “winters” are short and sweet… and our summers are hot and humid (in a good way…can you imagine not being able to enjoy the gorgeous Miami beaches because it was cold or gloomy?). I love being able to go to the beach and spend time outdoors because of our great all-year weather.  They say people get more social in the summertime (because of all the fun outdoor activities), maybe that’s why people in Miami are so warm and friendly!
