Last Thursday I had the opportunity to attend a lunch hosted by People en Español to celebrate the 25 most powerful Latina women. My day started at the L'Oreal Beauty Suite; they pampered us with mimosas, breakfast, new hair-dos, and makeup retouch. We also tried all L'Oreal's new beauty products. Claudia Betancur retouched my makeup by adding a perfect eyeliner (L’Oréal Paris The Blackbuster by Infallible) and the new mascara (L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara). After my makeup was ready, I headed to the hair station where Marcos Carrasquillo had the brightest idea of doing a faux bob- and I absolutely loved it...it looked so real! Later we headed to the lunch and I loved hearing inspiring stories about how to help the community. I hope you like the pics below, and let me know what you think of my faux bob! XOXO

El jueves pasado tuve la oportunidad de asistir al almuerzo de las "25 más poderosas" junto a People en Español y L'Oreal ParÃs. Mi dÃa empezó en la suite de belleza de L'Oreal; ahà nos consintieron al peinarnos y retocarnos el maquillaje mientras probamos los últimos productos en el mercado de L'Oreal junto a mimosas y un rico desayuno. Claudia Betancur utilizó el nuevo delineador lÃquido (L’Oréal Paris The Blackbuster by Infallible) y la nueva mascara (L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara). Después de retocar mi maquillaje, pasé a la estación de cabello. Allà Marcos Carrasquillo tuvo la brillante idea de hacerme un bob falso- y me encantó porque se veÃa muy real. Del hotel nos fuimos al almuerzo de "People en Español"; donde le hicieron un homenaje a las 25 mujeres más poderosas en el mundo del entretenimiento. Me encantó ver a artistas ayudando a la comunidad; especialmente Kate Del Castillo que nos habló de la trata. I wanted to publish this article yesterday, since it was Beauty Sunday- but I got home so tired from Spain that all I wanted was sleep. So today I'm telling you all about my favorite hair trends for this summer 2013. I chose 2 haircolors, 2 hairstyles, and 2 haircuts...I hope you liked them and let me know what you think.
1. Ombré hair: I've shared a lot about my experience with the L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombré kit (don't forget to check out my tutorial here on how I did it myself). I truly believe it's a fun way to update your look and it doesn't require a lot of maintenance. However, expect a video soon on how to "retouch" your ombré. It has been 3 months since I did it and I really want to light it up a little more.
2. Red hair: a lot of celebrities, like Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams, have switched their light brown or blonde for red. I feel it's a great look for the summer. Recommended: L'Oreal paris Feria
Este artÃculo lo tenÃa planeado para ayer, Domingo de Belleza- pero llegué tardÃsimo de España y lo que querÃa era descansar. Hoy les cuento con calma mis tendencias de cabello favoritas para esta temporada Verano 2013. Escogà dos colores, dos peinados, y dos cortes de cabello...espero que les guste.
Mechas californianas o "Ombré Hair"; ya les he contado muchÃsimo sobre este color degradado que llegó el año pasado para quedarse. Es una forma muy fácil de darnos un pequeño "makeover" y no tenemos que estar retocándolo seguido. Yo utilicé el kit de L'Oreal Paris llamado Feria Wild Ombré y me gustó mucho el resultado (pueden ver el tutorial acá). Dentro de poco les traeré un video sobre como "retocar" el ombré...asà que espérenlo :)
Tonos rojizos: a muchas nos da miedo intentar los tonos rojizos pero es un color que puede verse hermosÃsimo (especialmente si eres de tez blanca). Recomendación: L'Oreal paris Feria.
During the summer, my hair gets extremely frizzy- reason why my two go-to hairstyles are the top knot and braids.
For the top-knot, I recommend using a donut (or a sock), and a little bit of hairspray to hold everything in place ( (L'Oreal paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Hold). You can choose how messy, or high you want it. It's definitely a look that everyone can pull off.
For the braids, there are so many fun options: milkmaid braids, fishtail, french braids, waterwall braids, etc etc. I've done many tutorials in Spanish but just type any of the names above on google and you'll find thousands of tutorials.

Para el verano, estos dos peinados son mis favoritos- especialmente porque la humedad hace desastres con mi cabello y estos dos me ayudan a controlar el frizz.
Para el moñito: les recomiendo usar una dona (o una media doblada), y un poco de laca (L'Oreal paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Hold). También les dejo este video donde pueden ver un tutorial sobre como hacerlo.

When it comes to haircuts, I chose these two as my favorites. The long bob, or lob is my favorite length right now... I'm thinking about cutting it by the end of the year. Since it's longer than the usual bob, you can style it straight or wavy...and it works for all face types To give it shine and texture: L'Oreal paris EverStyle Alcohol Free Smooth and Shine).
If you want to update your look without having to make a drastic change...the best option are full bangs. To keep it straight and protect it against the heat of the flat-iron, use a small drop of L'Oreal paris Advance Haircare Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight.

En cuanto a los peinados, escogà estos dos como mis favoritos esta temporada. El bob largo me encanta, creo que a finales de este año me lo cortaré asÃ. Al ser un bob largo, puedes llevarlo liso u ondulado- también funciona para todos los tipos de cara. (Para darle brillo y textura: L'Oreal paris EverStyle Alcohol Free Smooth and Shine).
Si quieres cambiar tu look sin hacer un cambio extremadamente drástico, la pollina o flequillo es la mejor opción- ya que el compromiso es mucho menor que cortarte todo el cabello y crece rapidÃsimo. Para mantenerla lisa y protegerla de tanta plancha, te recomiendo utilizar una gotita de L'Oreal paris Advance Haircare Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight.

Last Thursday, even though there was a crazy storm in Miami, I attended a secret event from L'Oreal Paris in Miami Beach. I got there a little late because of the rain but it was amazing getting to see the amazing Miami bloggers again. Also, I spoke with two amazing experts: Marcos Carrasquillo & Claudia Betancurt (celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist respectively). The gorgeous Claudia shared a lot of beauty tips with me and let me know about the new makeup products. She encouraged me to try the new L'Oreal Paris Visible Lift CC cream; which is the next generation of multi-task products (it reduces dark spots, evens out skin tone, brightens and firms the skin while offering SPF20). We also talked about the new colored eye pencils "L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche".They come in fun colors like blue and purple, which is a cool way to spice up the usual black liner. Then I headed out to talk with Marcos- he complimented my ombré hair and I reminded him I used the L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombre kit. We also talked about doing a video on how to retouch your ombré- even though it's an easy-to-maintain hair color ...you do need to retouch it eventually if you want to keep it (and I do...maybe even a little lighter for the summer). I'm going to try the rest of the products, and I can't wait to share my favorites. XOXO

El jueves pasado, apesar de la tormenta en Miami, fui a un evento secreto de L'Oreal Paris en Miami Beach. Llegamos un poco tarde pero fue genial poder ver a las bloggeras de Miami que tenÃa tiempo sin ver debido al tiempo que estuve en Nueva York. Estuve hablando con dos grandes expertos: Marcos Carrasquillo y Claudia Bentancurt (ambos estilista/maquillista de celebridades respectivamente). Claudia, quien es un amor, me estuvo contando de los nuevos productos de maquillaje. Me animó mucho a probar la nueva L'Oreal Paris Visible Lift CC cream; la cual es la siguiente generación de productos multiusos (reduce la apariencia de manchas oscuras, empareja y corrige el tono de piel, ilumina el cutis, reafirma la piel, y ofrece protección solar SPF20). También estuvimos hablando de los nuevos lapices "L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche"; son unos delineadores en colores super cremosos que puedes utilizar como sombras o como el tÃpico lapiz negro (pero claro con un giro moderno y juvenil). Luego estuve hablando con Marcos sobre retocarme las mechas californianas que me hice hace unos meses con el kit L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombre ya que es una tendencia lindÃsima para el verano. Me dió varios tips y me encantarÃa hacer un video sobre como retocarlo- ya que, aunque es fácil de mantener, todas nos preguntamos como aclararlo más o subirlo cuando nos ha crecido el cabello. This is my first summer with ombré hair (here's a quick reminder of the kit I used- L'Oreal Paris ombré kit- and the tutorial on Youtube). Reason why I feel like I have to take care of my hair a little more because of the lighter ends... and well, because the sun, humidity, pool, ocean water, and sand have no mercy (and more because I live in Miami and the beach is right around the corner). Here are a couple of tips and products to take care of your hair and skin this season.
1. Hats are you best friends when you are long hours at the beach- not only they make you super chic but they also protect your hair and face from UV rays. There are a lot of styles to choose from but my recommendation is to look for beach hats and hats with a wide brim. Not a fan of hats? a fun alternative is wearing a scar (very J.lo)
2. Perform deep conditioning as often as you can. Apply it after shampooing and leave it as long as possible. Recommendation: L'Oreal Paris Moisture Rush Mask ($6.99)
3. I know many of you like to lay on a towel for hours to get a nice tan- but you have to remember how dangerous it is for your skin. In order to prevent skin cancer, I prefer using a self-tanner. For a nice natural-looking tan, I recommend: L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Pro Perfect ($10.99) - it comes as a spray so it's very easy to apply.
4. You have probably heard about morrocan oil and its amazing benefits for your hair. So this treatment is definitely a must- it not only hydrates your hair but it leaves it very shiny and healthy. L'Oreal Paris Precious Oil Treatment ($12.99)
5. You already know that I prefer to be pale that doing irreversible damage to my skin- reason why I ALWAYS use sunscreen (at least on my face and neck). However, if you are going to be extreme long hours under the sun, I recommend using a high SPF sunscreen like L'Oreal Paris Sublime Sunscreen SPF 100 or SPF50 (it comes as a lotion or as a spray)
6. No matter how many lotions we use, hydration should start from the inside... drinking water is very important during the summer (especially if you are under the sun for a long time).The recommended amount is 8 cups or 2 liters; but remember everything in excess is bad... drinking too much water can damage your liver and kidney.
7. I'm all for using as little makeup as you can on the beach/pool- but I'm the first one trying to hide acne marks and little imperfections. That's why I love"BB Creams" so much- they hydrate, they have SPF, and they even out skin with a little tint that nobody will notice.
8. More on the previous tip: since you want to use as little makeup as possible, I recommend using a face moisturizer that helps even out skin tone (from age sports or acne marks). I've been using this moisturizer and I absolutely love it- it leaves my skin feeling extremely soft and it also has SPF 30. (L'Oreal Paris Youth Code moisturizer ($24.99))
9. Let's not forget about wearing sunglasses with UV protection. The skin around our eyes is extremely sensitive and we have to protect it as much as we can...and the easiest way is with a big pair of sunglasses.
10. Finally, if you want to feel girly and beautiful...the best way is using a little mascara (but remember it has to be waterproof, we don't want to have black stains all over our face after getting out of the water). Recomendation: L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara ($9.95)

Este es mi primer verano con el cabello ombré (por si les interesa, aquà les dejo el enlace del kit de L'Oreal Paris que utilicé, y el link al tutorial en Youtube)- razón por la cual siento que debo cuidarme el cabello un poquito más del calor del sol, la humedad, la piscina, y la arena (más viviendo en Miami, donde la playa está a la vuelta de la esquina). Asà que hoy les traigo unas pequeñas recomendaciones para cuidar tu piel y cabello durante esta temporada.
1. Los sombreros son tus mejores amigos en la playa; no solo se ven super chic sino también te protegen de los rayos solares. Hay muchÃsimos modelos para escoger pero mi recomendación es que optes por las pamelas o los de ala ancha. Otra opción para proteger tu cabello es utilizar pañuelos (muy a lo J.Lo)
2. Utiliza baños de crema- son esenciales para que nuestro cabello se recupere de los daños del cloro, sol, arena, humedad, etc. Mi recomendación: L'Oreal Paris Moisture Rush Mask ($6.99)
3. Para prevenir el cáncer de piel, yo prefiero utilizar productos autobronceadores. Se que muchas prefieren rostisarse en el sol, pero no saben el daño que nos podemos hacer a largo plazo. Para un bronceado muy bonito y natural, les recomiendo: L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Pro Perfect ($10.99) ya que viene en forma de spray y es muy fácil de utilizar.
4. Probablemente has oido del aceite de Marruecos que es excelente para el cabello- y especialmente te lo recomiendo para este verano ya que este tratamiento hidrata muchÃsimo el cabello y lo deja brillante. Recomendación: L'Oreal Paris Precious Oil Treatment ($12.99)
5. Ya saben que soy partidaria de ser pálida en vez de hacerle daño a nuestra piel- razón por la cual les recomiendo utilizar protector solar SIEMPRE- no solo al estar en la playa, uno debe usar protector solar todos los dÃas (al menos en la cara y en el cuello). Para dÃas que vas a estar muchas horas en el sol, te recomiendo L'Oreal Paris Sublime Sunscreen SPF 100 o SPF50 (lo tienen en spray y en crema...ambos son excelentes)
6. Sin importar la cantidad de cremas que usemos, la hidratación empieza desde adentro...asà que a tomar MUCHA agua, especialmente si estás en el sol tanto tiempo. Lo recomendado son 2 litros u 8 vasos...pero tampoco debes tomar demasiada agua ya que puedes hacerle daño a tus riñones.
7. No es recomendable usar mucho maquillaje en la playa/piscina- pero yo soy la primera que quiere tapar una manchita o un granito. Mi recomendación es utilizar las conocidades "BB Creams" ya que hidratan, tiene protección solar, y nos hacen ver más "bonitas" sin llevar mucho maquillaje.
8. Ya que entre tanta playa y piscina, vamos a estar utilizando menos maquillaje. Yo te recomiendo buscar una crema que ayude a emparejar nuestra piel de machitas o marcas de acné. Esta la empecé a usar hace unas semanas y me encanta; te deja la piel con una textura riquÃsima, y lo más importante es que tiene protección solar 30.( L'Oreal Paris Youth Code moisturizer ($24.99))
9. Utiliza lentes de sol que tengan "UV protection"- la piel alrededor de nuestros ojos es mucho más delgada y sensible. Por esto debemos protegerla de los rayos solares con unos buenos lentes de sol.
10. Finalmente, te recomiendo usar una mascara o rÃmel aprueba de agua. Si utilizas un BB cream y una mascara, ya te vas a sentir más arregladita y "presentable" para el mundo. Recomendación: L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara ($9.95)

This #BeautySunday is all about the beauty trends seen at the Met Gala 2013- this year celebrities were definitely inspired by the PUNK FASHION. We saw a lot of dark lips, mohawks, crazy smoky eyes, and a couple of transformations.
1) Ombré Hair: whoever said that the ombré trend was going away was completely wrong...it is here to stay for a while (I counted at least 6 celebrities with ombré hair... some more dramatic than others). The best part is that you can do it at home with the L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombre kit, and watch my tutorial for extra tips.
2) Strong eyebrows and dark lips: I absolutely love this look, it's edgy but still wearable for the night time. Just keep it simple: stay away from smoky eyes or avoid using a lot of blush...let your brows and lips be the center of attention. (Recommended: L'Oreal Paris lipsticks and brow pencil)
3) Pink tips: if you dare, try this look for summer...it looks like so much fun. I saw at least 5 celebrities with some type of fun color in their hair (from pink to blues). I found this product from L'Oreal Paris that works on even the darkest hair without having to bleach it..which is always a plus.
4) Strong side swept: this is the easiest- just divide your hair to your side and make the smaller side look like you shaved your head (it's very easy with the help of a couple of hair styling products or a braid). I recommend this hairspray because of how it leaves your hair manageable , and the "L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight" to make it as straight as possible and avoid frizz.

El #BeautySunday de hoy se lo quiero dedicar a las tendencias de belleza que vi en los MET GALA - este año las celebridades de Hollywood parecen haberse inspirado en la moda punk vimos muchos labiales oscuros, peinados roqueros con mohawk, y ojos ahumados por doquier.
1) Mechas californianas: quien dijo que las mechas californianas estaban desapareciendo, se equivocó. Aparentemente están aquà para quedarse por un buen tiempo- al menos 6 celebridades en la alfombra roja tenÃan su cabello ombré....algunos más dramáticos que otros. (Pueden lograr el look en casa con el kit de L'Oreal Paris Feria Wild Ombre- también pueden ver mi tutorial acá)
2) Cejas fuertes y labios oscuros: este look me encanta- es dramático y se ve espectacular en eventos para la noche. Mi recomendación es que mantengas los ojos y el rubor lo más sencillo posible- de manera que las cejas y tus labios sean los protagonistas. (Productos: labiales de L'Oreal y el lapiz para cejas)
3) Un color divertido en las puntas: si este verano quieres intentar algo totalmente diferente y divertido...esta es una opción. Conté al menos 5 celebridades con algunos tonos como rosado o azul en el cabello. Encontré este producto en L'Oreal Paris para darte unos rayitos de colores sin tener que decoloarte el cabello y aparentemente funciona hasta en los cabellos muy oscuros.
4) División de lado: la idea de este look es que se vea como si te hubieses rapado la mitad de la cabeza. Es extremadamente sencillo ya que solo tienes que dividir tu cabello de lado y usar algunos productos como laca o gel para parezca que te rapaste el lado( También puedes usar como la modelo Cara y trenzarlo) Te recomiendo usar una laca y algún producto, como el L'Oreal Xtreme Straight, para que tu cabello se vea extra liso.

After almost a decade, I wanted to have a small transformation...so I did ombré on my hair with the L'Oreal Paris Wild Feria kit (Don't forget to check out my tutorial if you haven't seen it...click HERE). I was very worried thinking about how my hair texture would change and how the ombré could damage my hair. Reason why I have been trying a couple of new products...so today I share my hair-routine to take care of my new ombré hair.
I've been collaborating with L'Oreal for a couple of months now- reason why I have been trying a lot of their new products. So I want to make a small note saying that this is my honest opinion, this hasn't been edited by third parties, and I have tried all the products and recommend them. This has been my hair routine lately and you can also take it as a general tip/guide (but if you want to try a new product...these are my favorites).
1) Shampoo/conditioner (L'Oreal Paris Color Vibrancy Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner, $7.49 each). Having any type of hair-color change can really damage your hair; so my first recommendation is washing it less than usual. For example: I wash my hair once a week (that's what works for me because my hair is very dry). However, you can wash it twice a week or at least every other day if your hair is very oily. When washing it, look for a shampoo and conditioner that hydrates it as much as possible- even better if it's for colored hair, like this one.
2) Deep conditioner (L'Oreal paris Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm, $6.99). Even though if you use a hydrating shampoo, your hair might need extra help. Go for a deep conditioner and leave it on your hair at least 5 minutes (I would recommend 10-15min...just get out of the showe, and tweeze your eyebrows or something while waiting). I have been using this balm by L'Oreal for months...and I LOVE it. I use it at least once a month and I feel my hair softer and healthier right after using it.
3) I live in Miami, where it's humid most of the time. So I need a product that helps me with the frizz, especially when it's straight. To avoid looking like a lion, I've been using "L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Créme". I always like finding products that work in more than one way (so you can use just one product ). Also, it protects your hair from the heat of the styling tools, it makes your hair very smooth, and without frizz.
4) Like I was saying, I don't like wearing that many products at a time. When I do a high bun, or strong curls...I want the hairstyle to last, which means: HAIRSPRAY. When it comes to hairspray, I've been using L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong" for more than a year. Some hairsprays leave your hair looking "hard"...but this one makes your hair look soft, natural, and manageable
5) Talking about multi-use products; it doesn't matter if I'm styling it straight or wave...I need to use a heat protectant (L'Oreal Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray). This one is great because it not only protects from the 450F styling tools but also helps maintain the new hair color.
This is what I've been using when it comes to products but I want to try a couple of natural remedies (like avocado..or maybe mayonnaise haha). So except a #BeautySunday about that too!! Have an amazing week! XOXO

Después de casi una década quise hacerme un pequeño cambio de look: OMBRE o mechas californianas (Si no has visto el video sobre como hice el cambio con el Kit de L'Oreal Paris, pasa por ACA). Una de las cosas que más me preocupaba era como el tinte iba a cambiar/dañar mi cabello- razón por la cual he tenido que cambiar algunos productos que usaba, e intentar otros.
Llevo unos meses colaborando con L'Oreal Paris; por eso he tenido la oportunidad de probar bastantes de sus productos. Esto no significa que la opinión de este artÃculo no sea honesta, no ha sido editado por terceros, y he probado todos los productos y los recomiendo. Esta ha sido mi rutina últimamente pero son tips generalesque pueden ajustar a su estilo de vida y productos que ya usan (estos son solo algunas recomendaciones en dado caso que quieran probar algo nuevo).
1) Shampú y acondicionador (L'Oreal Paris Color Vibrancy Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner, $7.49 c/u). Generalmente decolarse/pintarse el cabello lo reseca mucho; asà que mi primera recomendación es lavarlo lo menos posible (o al menos no lo laves todos los dÃas). Yo lavo el mÃo una vez a la semana y funciona para mi porque tengo el cabello seco; pero puede ser dos veces a la semana, o al menos un dÃa si y otro no en dado caso que sea muy grasoso. Lo otro es busca un champú/acondicionador que te lo hidrate- mejor aún si es para cabello con tinte ya que ayuda a mantener el color.
2)Baño de crema (L'Oreal paris Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm, $6.99): Por muy hidrante que sea el shampú/acondicionador que utilices, nuestro cabello puede que necesite la ayuda extra de un baño de crema. Estos productos debes dejarlos en el cabello al menos 5 minutos- pero yo recomendarÃa unos 10-15 (sal de la ducha y haz algo más...ejemplo: sacarte las cejas mientras tanto) Yo llevo meses utilizando este producto de L'Oreal y me fascina- que disminuye el daño de hasta un año. Cada vez que lo utilizo siento mi cabello más suave e hidratado.
3) Viviendo en Miami, donde hay tanta humedad, necesito un producto que me ayude con el frizz. Cuando quiero llevar el cabello liso y para evitar que se me abombe en cuestión de segundos utilizo: "L'Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Créme". En cuanto a productos de belleza, me gusta mucho encontrar productos que sean MIL-en-uno; asà no tenemos que llenarnos el cabello de un pegoste. Este también lo protege del calor de la plancha/secador, mantiene el frizz bajo control y lo deja manejable.
4) Como les comento, no me gusta usar MUCHOS productos a la vez- pero cuando me hago un moño alto..o unas ondas muy marcadas, necesito laca para que todo se mantenga en su lugar. En cuanto a laca, llevo desde el año pasado utilizando " L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong" y me gusta porque no deja el cabello duro...al contrario, se ve natural.
5)Hablando de productos con multiples usos: sin importar si lo voy a peinar liso o en ondas, utilizo el L'Oreal Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray. Varias veces les he mencionado la importancia de usar un "protector de calor"; asà disminuimos los daños de la plancha/secadora/rizadora. Este protege el cabello hasta una temperatura de 450 grados Fahrenheit, y mantiene el color del tinte .
6) Finalmente me gusta agregar un "aceite" que le de un brillo extra, especialmente a las puntas (Recomendación: "L'Oreal Total Repair 5-Multi Restorative Dry Oil" ya que también ayuda a reparar el daño)
