FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!
Summer is officially here…which means spending more time outside: picnics, pool parties, concerts or festivals, barbecues, rooftop parties…WHO ELSE IS EXCITED?
All of these are SO MUCH fun…and I’m sure you want to look gorgeous and trendy. I always say that it’s not only about looking beautiful,it’s about what you do in that beautiful dress and fun lipstick. During the summer, you should be enjoying the moment with your friends and family instead of worrying about your beauty look or having to deal with sweaty situations.
So today I’m sharing my favorite 10 Fashion and Beauty essentials to party all summer outdoors! Let’s do this!
1. Olay MicroSculpting Cream SPF30
I’m listing it first because it’s so important to be careful when it comes to sun protection. I always mention it, do not forget to apply (and re-apply) when you are spending a lot of time outdoors.
When I started blogging I was 20 and as I approach my 30s, I love products that also offer anti-aging benefits. Reason why I really like Olay MicroSculpting Cream SPF30- it protects against the harmful UVA/UVE, hydrates, brightens, and instantly reduces the appearance of lines. It is also a perfect size to carry on your travel bag or beach bag.

2. Body Bronzer
Ok taking care of your skin doesn’t mean that you can not rock some tanned legs. But go for the non-harming option…a golden glow goes great with any outdoor summer activity. Go for gradual tanning products instead of those that will leave you patchy and too dark.

3. CoverGirl trueBlend Primer
If you ask any professional makeup artist what is the trick for long-lasting foundation, they are going to say PRIMER!! On a hot summer day, your makeup won’t last as long because of sweat and oil. These are reasons why it’s very important to apply it to oily areas (think your T-zone: forehead and nose).
My recommendation: COVERGIRL trueBlend Primer. There are three types: one for oily skin (designed to minimize shine breakout), one for dry (to hydrate and create a smooth canvas), and one for combination skin. It will not only extend the life of your makeup, but make you look extra flawless.

4. Denim Shorts
If there is one piece that screams summer it is a good pair of denim shorts. They work over your favorite swimsuit for a pool party, with a boho kimono for a festival, and with a light jacket for a barbecue that turns into a game-night. Yes. I know. You already have denim shorts, but think outside the box! There are so many styles right now. You could get one pair with lace, with a floral print, with the flag print (perfect for 4th of July), etc. But if you don’t have a pair of high waisted vintage shorts….this is the time!!

5. Secret Outlast Xtend Clear Gel
Ok, nobody wants to talk about stinky sweaty situations, but someone has to do it!
You cannot really enjoy any summer activity if you don’t feel fresh and clean. I like the Secret Outlast Xtend Clear Gel because the gel dries super fast to avoid any white marks or residue. This one is designed to provide 48 hour odor protection.

6. Mirrored Sunglasses
This one is another obvious essential, but it’s always a good reminder! Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun, and they’ll keep you from squinting all day. I don’t recommend taking your expensive pair to the beach or lake , but look for styles that have UV protection. If you are thinking of getting a new pair, go for mirrored sunnies this summer! Cat eyes never go out of style, but you can get them in a fun, summer color.

7. One-piece swimsuits:
Long gone are the days that one-piece swimsuits used to be conservative or matronly. One-piece bikinis are FUN, ON TREND, AND MODERN!! The best part: they also work as body suits that you can wear under skirts or shorts during any summer party. I specially love the ones that have sheer or strappy details or fun prints.

8. Anything with tassels or pom poms:
If there is a trend that is basically everywhere right now it’s tassels and pom poms. I’ve seen them on totes, dresses, tops, and sandals. I have a black off-the-shoulder top with pom poms that I absolutely love, but I also have my eye on a pair of sandals with fun pom poms.

9. A multi-use sarong:
I have a thing for multi-use beauty products and I have the same thing for fashion items. That’s why I love my remix options for a sarong. You can use it as a beach blanket, as a beach cover-up, and as a turban is a MUST during the summer months.
10. A bold lip color:
I’m all for natural makeup during the warmer months…but this is the time to try a bright pink (like the COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick in bombshell pink 425) or fun orange red (like the COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick in Garnet Flame 300)!
What are your plans this Summer?
Share them with me and/or your favorite beauty /fashion essentials for Summer ! XOXO

I live in HOT, HUMID Miami. Yes, we have ridiculous 80º+ temperatures most of the year!
And, when friends visit me in Miami, their first question is “HOW DO YOU DO IT?”
They complain about their makeup melting or their hair getting bigger and frizzier by the minute….and I mean, I totally get them- it has happened to me. However, over the years (almost 10 years living in Miami), I’ve learned a few beauty tricks here and there to make my beauty last in even the hottest spring day.

And here's another look from New York Fashion Week! I wore this last Monday to go to the Mathieu Mirano show, I really loved it...and them I stopped by the Covergirl Beauty Lounge. I really needed some pampering time that included: a makeup/hair re-touch (since the rain kept messing with it), and a manicure. I'm very happy with the new Covergirl nail-polish; I have a couple of Essie nailpolishes and they don't even last two days. This time, the Covergirl nailpolished lasted me almost a week (definitely a record for me!) About my outfit: I wanted to wear pants with a fun print, so I chose this from H&M. I wanted to add a little more color with a burgundy top, and of course: a leather jacket to try to stay a little warm. If you are wondering, yes I wore a big coat to walk to and from the subway- but that way the actual outfit cannot be seen. Have an amazing week...thanks for stopping by! XOXO

Bottoms with some type of print have been around for a while now... and they are still very trendy this Spring. But if you aren't sure about them or how they'll look on you, I recommend you looking for a pair similar to these from Guess. The floral print is slightly lighter than the actual jeans so it isn't as over-the-top but it still fun and up-to-date. This isn't the first time I wear "denim on denim", I actually love how to denim items look together (the trick is looking for pieces of two different blue-tones...if they are too matchy-matchy, you end up looking like you just time traveled from the beginning of the 90s). To add a little bit of color, I added this amazing necklace from Vivienne Kelly (it's hand painted!), and a pair of red shoes that were featured on the Valentine's Day special. I wore this today to have lunch with my boyfriend in Lincoln Road since it's our day off! But now I have to finish a project that's due tomorrow... and finish packing for NYC- so excitedddd!! Thanks for stopping by! XOXO
________

Here's another Holiday party idea. I feel like this dress is perfect for this season for two reasons: first, the peplum is very on-trend...and second, a red dress screams HOLIDAY! I paired the dress with a statement black/gold necklace, a timeless ring, and a simple gold bracelet. To make the look a little more fun, I added some leopard pumps. I feel like this look would look appropriate in A LOT of women- it's trendy enough for an 18yr old...and classy enough for a 40-something bombshell. Let me know what you think about this look for Christmass. XOXO
ps: best part, the dress is on sale for $28!!

Every time somebody asked me about my style, I'd say that it's feminine- but lately I realized I have a rocker alter-ego that loves leather pieces and darker lipstick. And that's okay, we should never get stuck in one style...it's fun to experiment and try new things (and clothing is not as permanent as a new hair color). This looks is actually from two Sundays ago, I don't know why I have so many looks that I haven't posted...but that's good, right? I wore it to walk around the city, have smoothies- and then I changed to flats to take Chiki to a doggie park ( I always have to be running around because he falls in love with every single dog and he leaves with them). I did the look around the "Pretty Kitty leopard shorts" from Lulus- I added the simple tank to make the outfit more casual, and the faux leather jacket because it was a little bit breezy out. Btw I added the lipcolor number and everything below because I always get asked about that. I hope you liked the look and this rocker side of me! XOXO
Besos y abrazos inmensos!
