BUG SHORTS + PINK JACKET - PREGNANCY STYLE

Sunday, April 15, 2018

Dressing a growing belly is no easy task. I always say that if I wasn't a blogger, I would probably be in the same dress or leggings every day of the week. But, it's true, I do feel the pressure of dressing up and inspiring fellow moms-to-be.  I'm not complaining about my belly at all, I just refuse to buy a full new closet. Stay tuned for a "pregnancy style essentials" I'm writing.

My waist has always been the smallest part of my body. I have hips and boobs, and I always tried highlighting my small waist. Because of this, I love wearing high waisted skirts/shorts and dresses with a defined waist. Guest what?  All these pieces stopped fitting FIRST. I've been wearing a lot of my pre-belly shirts, but the bottoms...nope! So in my case, I needed to get a few pieces to continue dressing as ME as possible!

I saw these fun BUG shorts at Asos Maternity at SALE (they currently are $12!!) and I felt like why not!? I wore it very similar to the model on the site without even noticing , the outfit probably stayed in the back of my mind and I have this light pink jacket that felt perfect for it!.

Hope you like the look! XOXO

10 RANDOM THOUGHTS... sweater dress, oversized jacket & sneakers

Sunday, March 25, 2018

We all go through writer's block.

I especially have been very stuck when it comes to writing about trends, how to wear, or why did I wear X or Y? So I'm going to share 10 random things about this month so far and I'd love for you to tell me something!

1. The BABY SHOWER is next week. After getting quotes from a few places, I couldn't believe how expensive everything is in the U.S. I decided to make it a DIY and just have fun with it. I know some things will be far from perfect but I'll be fun because I made them.

2. Gabe's birthday was yesterday (the 24th). He turned 31 and I still amazes me how time flies. We met when he was 19.  He has been working non-stop so we just had lunch with his family and then sang happy birthday with some of our closest friends.

3. We live in a one-bedroom apartment and we were thinking about moving because of the baby- we decided to stay at least until the beginning of 2019.  It's been challenging, a lot of cleaning, selling, donating. But I think we will make it work with the little one.

4. I'm very confused about fashion trends right now. I'm hating the big sneakers everyone is wearing lately.  They remind me of the 2000s sketchers and  they kill every outfit.  But again, that's me! If you love them, have fun with them!

5. I miss traveling. I can't wait to take baby in all these fun adventures. We really don't want to change our lifestyle THAT much. We actually are very excited to bring him along as soon as we can. I see families like Amber FIllerup's and we are very inspired to see little ones who have been to 20 countries before the age of 5.

6. I'm really inspired seeing all these young girls and boys talking about gun regulation and stopping gun violence. It makes me tear up every time and if you follow me on Twitter you probably have seen how passionate I am about this topic.

7. Talking about moving (on #2) I've been thinking about moving to another city lately. I love Miami but I think it would be nice for us to move to another city for a little bit (or a while who knows). I was thinking Dallas just because I loved it when I visited a few years ago, and it has one of the biggest airports so we could go visit our families in a heartbeat.

8. Maybe some of you noticed, I've stopped writing in Spanish. It hurts my soul and I won't stop 100%!! BUT, it was double the work and sometimes I felt I cut myself short because I didn't want to write it twice. I didn't use google translate or anything like that, it was truly writing it again (and the message even differed from time to time).  This doesn't mean I'm not proud of my roots, or that we don't speak it at home. Just career-wise, it felt like the right thing to do in order to share more with you guys.

9.  Our friends Gaby (@VoguishDiet) and Alex (@LegendaryAlex) got a puppy , a maltipoo (a maltese & poodle mix) and he is so adorable. You can follow him at @ItsErniesLife.

10. Talking about puppy accounts. I opened an account for Chiki @ChikitheMalteseDog and I'm so excited to be talking in third person haha such a weird crazy mama!

BLOGGING BIZ: KNOWING YOUR WORTH....

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

I'm going to start with the cliché (just in case you found me recently, or even through this article) I started blogging way too long ago (2009) , I've learned A LOT by making several mistakes, AND I've seen the blogging industry changed in all ways possible. I'm finishing an article with the 10 mistakes I made as a new blogger, and not knowing my worth was definitely one of them. So let's get started!

Because of my "OG" status, as some name it, many blogger friends that are relatively new to the industry always come up to me asking me if they should charge for X, Y, or Z. And the answer, no matter what, is YES! YES! and 100 times YES!

If a brand reaches out to YOU, they found some sort of value IN YOU. It might have been your amazing pictures. Maybe they liked your witty way of writing or they loved your product reviews.  When a brand reaches out, it isn't by chance (or it shouldn't be by chance). They probably did their research and spent countless hours finding people that align with their brand and messaging.

A few months ago, a big-tier blogger discouraged "small" bloggers from not following their dreams because they might not have X amount of followers.  She actually said NOT to charge if you had less than 100k. It just made my blood boil because that's simply not true.

you are never "too small" to charge on social media.  Period

Let's break it down. Let's imagine you have ZERO followers (just to exaggerate, we all know that moms and aunts make great fans..so let's make it 3 followers), and a brand contacts you for content creation: IGNORE the number of followers in your profile and take all these things  (and the hours they take) into consideration.

- PRE- PRODUCTION:
Inspiration board, buying props, location scouting, talent scouting,  and equipment rental.

- PRODUCTION
Hair and makeup, photographer, gas and parking, and modeling

- POST PRODUCTION:
Editing, writing, proof-reading, and social media planning.

We are talking about a production that would cost the brand THOUSANDS of dollars. So why shouldn't YOU charge? Even with absolutely no followers.

Your worth is more the number on your profile, it's your time, effort, talent, and creativity. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

We took the pictures for a fun campaign with the Movie "Everything, Everything". I remember seeing the trailer a few months ago and I got absolutely excited to see it (the guy is from Melissa and Joey, totally random but I feel I saw him grow and he is adorable). Since, I love good-old movies that make you cry like a little baby, I absolutely said yes to this campaign. I loved the concept of sharing who is your Everything, Everything. It's very important to stay true to who you are and only work doing campaigns you truly believe in.

You all know our story by now, we have been together since we were teens right off high school. I've shared how we met, when we got engaged, when we got married, our trips, our best of times...and the not-so-great times.

The past few months have been hard, healing in the middle of this emotional storm. I'm so glad to have him by my side. He is literally the one holding the umbrella and making sure I'm okay every step of the way(even if in pictures it doesn't look like he is great at sharing...I promise he is!). He encourages me to live life to the fullest. He is my rock.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to read my miscarriage story.  I was so nervous about opening my soul so publicly. I have been slowly answering all comments, texts, DMs, tweets, etc💓💓 Gabe and I are feel so thankful and overwhelmed with love. We can't thank you enough for sharing your story with us, for your sweet words, your blessings! 💓🙏🏼💓 Love you all!

Fishnets Under Ripped Boyfriend Jeans

Sunday, April 16, 2017

This trend came out of nowhere. I remember I saw it first on Kim Kardashian's IG. Even though I'm not the biggest fan, I can appreciate her as someone who isn't afraid to try new trends.

There's something super edgy about this trend, but there are ways to adjust it to your personal style. For example, last month I showed you how you can wear lace tights instead of fishnets if you are more romantic or girly.

But let's focus on fishnets today. I want to to give you some tips to take full advantage of the fun pair you purchase (which btw are under $10 in most sites...you all know how I love an affordable trend!).

Unexpected Travels /// Sporty Camel Coat

Friday, January 6, 2017

Things don't go as planned. We had everything ready...we were going on our honeymoon after 2 years (and to celebrate our second anniversary)...and something happened: I guess it was my mistake.

As a venezuelan passport holder, I couldn't get on the plane to the UK. There's a new law that requires venezuelans to get a visa. When I lived in Venezuela, I remember we could go to any European country without any problems- that's why I didn't even double check (again, my mistake). The airline never required it when I input my passport months ago (but again, we shouldn't rely on machines).

I took it very calmly, I'm the type of person that takes things very chill, especially when you cannot do anything about it. Even though we did, we tried changing our trip but it was twice as expensive. We decided to stay in New York and enjoy every second of it- because well, WE ABSOLUTELY love New York. We stayed there an extra 5 days and we tried to do/visit things we had not done before.

It was one of those moments where you realize that it is your choice , you decide whether something can F*ck it all up or you can just look at the bright side...and my bright side was simply being with him in one of the best cities of the world.

Sporty Plaid in CENTRAL PARK

Sunday, December 18, 2016

Mad for plaid ♥️♥️ When I got this statement plaid coat a few years ago, I never thought I would wear it as much as I have...I have to update the remix for it but if you search on the blog plaid coat, you can see the other 4 ways I've worn it.

This time I went for a sporty vibe with a funky hat and my new favorite sneakers.

This day was super fun, we met with some Dominican friends and he headed to have some Dominican food in Queens and then we spent the whole day with them. You can check their blog @GlamDapper.

XOXO

BESOS!

Casa de Pablo Neruda, Santiago de Chile

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

YAY! This officially concludes the Chile trip. Okay, let's talk "months"..we were in Chile in April...yes, April! I waited too long too share, then I wasn't sure if I should.

But now that it's getting chilly and Fall is here...they look appropriate again.

For our last day in Chile we went to one of Neruda's houses called "La Chascona"- which I absolutely loved.  We weren't supposed to take pictures in there but when the guards weren't looking we snapped a couple...hello how can we not share this coolness.

Random Fact: when I was in high school they made us memorize a super long poem...you could choose whichever you wanted. I picked one from Neruda and I started learning so much about him, his poetry, his unique style...the poem is called "Puedo Escribir Los Versos Más Tristes Esta Noche"...I still love that poem.

Out of nowhere, it got super chilly that day...I had to borrowed my mom's scarf (she had many layers...she gets cold easily haha)- and I wore tights for the first time in the trip. We also ate at a Colombian/Chilean restaurant....honestly,not the best, so I won't recommend it (insert the monkey emoji with its hand on its eyes).

Hope you like the pics!

¡YAY!

BESOS!

Sporty in Downtown San Francisco

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

When I travel and I'm packing, I try to write down certain outfits....this one was definitely not in my list. I brought that dress for a another jacket and the varsity to wear with jeans. That day San Francisco was hotter than usual (but it was chilly during the day). So this combo ended up being perfect for the day...to walk around comfortably .  We headed to Downtown San Francisco and it was so beautiful. Can't wait to go back by the end of the month.

Roadtrip to San Francisco 2016

Saturday, August 20, 2016

I absolutely love San Francisco, I think I would move there in a heartbeat.

I love its weather, its views, its delicious food...everything! I have been living in Miami for 10 years, where it's almost Summer all year around...you have no idea how much I wish we had this amazing weather to play with layers and just not be sweating every time you go out.

I love that we found so many vegan places and how people just hang out at parks.

During our first day there, we did the most touristy stuff ever...stop for Golden Gate Bridge pics and visit the park from the Full House opening.

My outfit was a little improvised, I quickly added a jacket and sweater to my look because it was colder than I expected.

Hope you like the pics!

Staying Matte and Beating the Heat in Napa Valley

Friday, July 22, 2016

We are in California!! We are doing a small road-trip around Big Sur, Napa Valley, San Francisco and small cities in the area.

The temperature has been a dream...we were definitely running from the Miami heat. However, the weather in Napa has been a little hotter than I expected- especially throughout the day when it's the time to explore vineyards.

So today I'm partnering with Clinique to show you a quick and easy everyday tutorial to stay matte and beat the heat of the Summer days. We all want our skin to look flawless and fresh throughout the Summer Days.

The secret weapon:  Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder. It absorbs shine, leaving you with a fresh matte texture.

Around Charleston, South Carolina

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

We went to Charleston, South Carolina on the last week of April for a wedding. We drove, it was around 10 hours...but we made it a fun road-trip and we took Chiki with us. It's such a pretty town...we were surprised by how big and beautiful the Downtown area is.

Here are some pictures of our day there. Hope you like them!

¡BESOS!

Sí al Amor…with Armani Sí Rose

Sunday, May 8, 2016

Say “SÍ” to life…
Say “SÍ” to happiness…
But most importantly…Say “SÍ” to love!

I’ve always loved perfumes. I started collecting them when I was around 13 years old because every fragrance reminds me of a time in my life…where I was, how I felt, how I wanted to be….

To me, a perfume is so much more than a scent you wear…it can become your beauty signature, it says as much of your personality as the outfit you are wearing! I love it when I smell a fragrance and it instantly reminds me of someone.

The Perfect Accessory

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Is it me or when you ask someone the time…people tend to pull out their phones? (almost reminiscent of how men would pull out their pocket watches back in the day). Instead of being dependent on our smartphones, I think there is something timeless about a wristwatch. It is an accessory that can turn a simple outfit into a refined look.

Nowadays, there are so many styles to choose from…silver, gold, rose gold..leather strap, sporty, minimal! I think you can tell so much about someone just by looking at the watch they wear.

Totally…Whatever…As if….with Express

Thursday, April 14, 2016

I’m a 90s kid…and the 90s fashion trends hold a special place in my heart. I think it has to do with the fact I have two older brothers who were teens in the 90s. While I listened to Spice Girls with my friends in school (and wanted to dress like Sporty Spice), I would get home and listen to Nirvana with my brothers…and after a day of Nickelodeon cartoons, I would join them for Dawson’s Creek and Beverly Hills 90210 (now that I watched those shows as an adult, I get while my mom wasn’t happy that).I remember being  into grungy looks with flannel shirts and chokers.

The best part about fashion is that trends ALWAYS come back, and it’s always fun to modernize those trends and give them a “now-twist”.

I think the best way to ROCK the 90s trends is to have that “Totally, Whatever…I’m too cool to care” attitude of the decade. You can add 90s pieces easily to your current wardrobe. I of course went with a super cool bodysuit from Express, I love how the detail on the neckline gives it a modern twist to this style.

But well, it’s not the 90s without PLAID! I really liked this short-sleeve version that looks great over the bodysuit! To get ready for Spring/Summer, go for high-waisted shorts with a cool buckle belt. When it comes to accessories: instead of the retro tattoo version, try a silver or gold version. I love this silver choker from Express, it’s so versatile…you can dress it down with the flannel, or up with a gown for a wedding. And well, backpacks and a chunky shoe are the perfect complement to any 90s look!

Beauty-wise:
Instead of perfect curls or beach waves, go for a tousled look. To do this, use a wide curling iron and leave the ends straight…then mess the look with your fingers. Keep makeup to the minimum, but it’s always a great idea to add a burgundy or dark lip!

Would you go 90s for Summer?
Check out some of my favorite Express 90s inspired pieces below!

______

Graphic Stripes & Suede

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Funny story about this look....we were taking pictures right outside the hotel in Los Angeles (right by Hollywood Blvd) when a homeless guy tried to attacked me. He chase me for half a block until I found shelter in a little restaurant. I guess the crazy LA stories are true haha.

Graphic stripes are a big trend this Spring/Summer, and I thought this sweater from H&M was a great way to add the trend to my spring wardrobe. Following the color scheme of the sweater, I added a suede mustard skirt (also from H&M, I got it last year but they are recently re-stocked it for this season), and a cute studded bag from Coach that matched the white stripes.

Hope you are having a great day! XOXO

BESOS

Army Green & Stripes

Friday, March 18, 2016

Yes, yes...I'm a little behind looks-wise! I've been slowly trying to update the blog more and more to catch up. I should have uploaded this look while I was in Los Angeles for We All Grow. However, it was such a busy time that I didn't have time to stop and write. I could be more organized and have post scheduled ahead of time, but I like sitting down and writing in real time.

I wore this at the end of February...when Miami's weather was a little bit cooler. I'm wearing two pieces of the Who What Wear Collection for Target..and this look can actually be seen on the official TV commercial (I have to say I thought about it before seeing it haha).

Instead of adding a black bag as I would have normally done, I added this mustard bag part of the limited edition Coach 1941 collection. I'm in love with the Coach revamp-...the new creative director is killing it.

Tomorrow I'll be in Dallas for Beauty Con, so if you are there and want to stop by I'll be at booth #26 by the stage. XOXO

¡BESOS!

Floral & Leather

Sunday, March 13, 2016

I love mixing edgy and girly elements... reason why adding a leather vest to this Coach floral dress was a no-brainer. Since that day was a little bit chill, I added the over-the-knee boots.  I've done this combo many many times..and it's still one of my favorites. Without the leather vest, I think this look is too girly for me.

Also, the dress was long on my petite figure, reason why I added a belt on the waist to make it shorter and more flattering.

I also re-wore this in Los Angeles the day I had to speak on my panel. You can see the full recap on my trip to We All Grow, HERE!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!
