Fringe Queens...Austin, Texas

Thursday, October 29, 2015

On August, I was in New York for a photoshoot with JC Penney (check out the post "My Style Story"). While doing the fitting, I fell in love with this jacket...so bright, so cool..and you all know how much I love fringe (even tomorrow's post has a little fringe!! haha).  The day of the shoot, I left my favorite jean jacket on set (a jean jacket I got at Forever 21 about 5 years ago, I bleached it and it is so soft by no!). The JC Penney team was so amazing that they not only returned my jacket but they also included the blue fringe jacked I loved so much (with a cute note that I got to have it!). It is such a statement piece that the first look with it had to be as simple as possible...in b&W. I had my regular jeans on and it looked a little plain...so Ashes Into Fashion offered  me her cool ripped jeans...aren't they so cool? I want to try to distress some of my old black jeans...let's see how that goes. I wore this to go have dinner with my friends in Austin...we saw this cool wall and we had to stop to take pictures (and it matched my look perfectly). On this trip, I wore my hair a lot in a half pony (Ariana Grande-ish)...but my hair was out of control and it was the only way it looked okay. Hope you are having a fantastic week ! XOXO

______

Hidden Gems...Austin, Texas

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

Gabe and I were in Austin, Texas last week...so in today's post I'm going to talk a little bit more in detail about what we were doing there. We were invited by Chevrolet to visit our city of choice (there were many options: Boston, New Orleans, Atlanta...and of course, Austin). I don't know what was the decision process but we were very glad to end up there...especially because Ashley (from Ashes Into Fashion) and her husband were able to drive from Dallas to stay with us.  The idea was to enjoy the city, visit #HiddenGems while driving the Trax around town. So I want to share some of my favorite places. Let's start:

_______

Empecemos.

The Perfect Fall Booties...with Clarks USA and Zappos

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

I have a weakness for black booties...I wear them even in the hottest day of summer and when I visit New York in the winter. This Fall, I wanted to update my booties for a modern pair....what I had in mind? A pair with a pointy tip.  After looking for a little bit on Zappos.com (where you can find any pair you have in mind), I found it, of course!! This stylish pair from Clarks (The style is called Morela Liza). It is extremely comfortable, the leather is high quality, and it gives a cool/chic feel to any look.

I paired these cool booties with a suede skirt that I got at the beginning of the summer, and I couldn't wait to pair with a chunky sweater by fall. Final touches: my favorite sunglasses and a black cross-body bag. Hope you like the pictures! XOXO

_______

¿Toques finales? Lentes redondos y una cartera de lado. ¡BESOS!

Greetings from AUSTIN, TX

Monday, October 26, 2015

Okay so before sharing all the fun things we did in Texas,...I want to share some of my looks there! After a full day of working, we went to the hotel to change . Since the plan was to explore, I put on my white sneakers (super on trend, of course haha..but mainly because they are so comfortable).  Our first stop was this cool wall that says "Greetings from Austin, Texas". Then we went for cupcakes and we had a sushi double date to celebrate my birthday! Hope you like the look! XOXO

____

Cathedral of Junk... Austin, Texas

Friday, October 23, 2015

Let's start with the pictures from Austin, TEXAS!!
This week we went to Texas with Chevrolet for a fun opportunity where we basically just had to explore the hidden gems of the city. One of my favorite places was this one, the Cathedral of Junk.

This construction is hidden behind a house in a normal neighborhood, you can't even tell it's there! The owner, Vince Hangman started building it in 1988 (best year of course, because of my birth date) and he says that it doesn't have a special meaning...he just loves it! It reminded me of a treehouse/clubhouse for kids. It has so many cool details and it's fully made of "junk".

Hope you like the pics!

p.s we got a picture of the artist and look at his tattoo..Junk King! So cool!

_______

BESOS

WHAT'S IN MY BAG? ...with UbyKotex

Thursday, October 22, 2015

You have probably heard me say several times “A woman’s bag is the final touch, it shows her personality and where she is going”. But what INSIDE her bag really shows who she is (and what she can live without). There’s the minimalistic girl that only carries her ID, credit card, and phone… and there’s the Mary Poppins girl that has everything you need;  umbrella? hand lotion? snacks? pills for headaches? She has it.

ME? I tend to carry small cross body bags with only the necessary, but here’s what I carry on my bigger handbags. I just came back from a trip to Austin and I just took out everything that was in my handbag….let’s explore it:

  • Wallet: with my ID, credit cards, business cards, and emergency cash. You know, the basics.
  • Passport when traveling.
  • Cellphone…this should be #1.
  • Extra phone battery/Phone Charger: I don’t know why but my cell-phone battery drains very quickly…I blame Snapchat (Follow me there as danidaniramirez!).
  • Gum or Mints: Hi, my name is Daniela and I’m addicted to gum.
  • Lipstick (either red or burgundy): it’s the best way to change your look from day to night or to look dressier in a heartbeat.
  • Chapstick: my lips are very dry and if I’m not moisturizing it at least twice a day, they get chapped. I’ve been using Burt's & Bees...it's super moisturizing and the one I like has a nice red tint.
  • Powder/Blush: just in case I get a little shiny or need a quick touch-up.
  • Sunglasses and eyeglasses: to hide my dark circles and  protect them from the sun…and well, my eyeglasses because I can’t see anything from a distance.
  • Snacks: apples or bananas are my favorite to carry around.

  • UbyKotex : I’m very regular but I would always get my period and freak out because I wasn’t prepared. I’ve learned to always carry tampons with me…and now I feel like a “savior” when someone asks “Do you have a tampon?” (hey let's #SaveTheUndies). I’ve been using UbyKotex for a few years now, and it's a must-have in my everyday bag.

What do you carry in your handbag? What are your must-haves? Let me know in the comments.

Fashion From Head to Toe…with TONI & GUY and SOPHIA WEBSTER

Monday, October 19, 2015

I’m such a fan Sophia Webster shoes….they are classy with a touch of cool and unexpected. Even this pair of timeless metallic pumps has a fun touch with the flamingos on the heel (aren’t they amazing!!?). But to bring your look together from head to toe, you need the perfect hairstyle!

I’m super excited to be collaborating on this easy hair tutorial to celebrate that Sophia Webster designed a new gorgeous packaging for Toni & Guy (only available at Target!). I was inspired by the shoes and I wanted to do some feminine curls with tons of volume and bounce.

Diving in...

Saturday, October 17, 2015

These were my favorite set of pictures we took in Culebra.

Every day I would put my fins and mask..and I would snorkel away the reef for at least an hour. There was something so peaceful about...I couldn't hear anything but the sound of water....this is definitely paradise on earth!

_______

Dreaming of Sweater Weather…with EXPRESS

Friday, October 16, 2015

When I was applying to go to college and I swore my dad that “I would not go past Tallahassee”…yes, that was me scared of living anywhere with a different temperature of 80 degrees all year round. I’ve been living in Miami for a while now…and from time to time, I wish our seasons changed at least a little (hey, emphasis on “a little”). In Miami, we get a couple of “Fall Days” but they are GORGEOUS…with not a cloud in sight, and an average temperature of 65 degrees… Where this would be the perfect outfit to wear out.

If you are lucky enough to live in a city or town where the leaves are turning orange right now…. this should be your fall uniform for easygoing days. This Express sweater is comfy and warm; the print is very on-trend and it will add a pop-of color to your fall wardrobe. I paired the sweater with some leggings (also from Express), some booties, and a boho hat. In the meantime, I will continue dreaming of sweater weather…and if you see me wearing this in a perfect Miami Fall day, pretend you didn’t see it on the blog! XOXO

______

¡BESOS!

Confidence Confessions…with Aerie

Thursday, October 15, 2015

Two years ago, I was getting ready to do a photo shoot that I was really excited about… until I saw the photographer’s portfolio. Why? He loved photoshopping girls to the extreme. To the point where they looked like aliens (and that’s without getting into how he would ask girls to drop 30 pounds before he “could” shoot them).

For a moment I felt like I wasn’t enough—hey, I’m just 5’1 and I have curves, nowhere near his “model standards.” But I realized I wasn’t going to let him do that. I told him: “You are not photoshopping me. This is who I am, this is how I look. I love my body, I love MY REAL SELF.”

One of the reasons I love the #AerieReal campaign is that it features
unretouched images. The campaign has images of Emma Roberts looking gorgeous and most importantly, REAL. Like she shared on the Aerie site: “There’s nothing cooler or more beautiful than being yourself.”

_____

Deal Reveal…with Kmart Fashion.

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Every season, we want to head to our favorite stores and update our wardrobe… but who says you have to spend a lot of money to do so? On the contrary, I love finding amazing deals and then surprising my friends saying “This gorgeous new piece? Just $10 at Kmart!!”

At the beginning of the year, I had the opportunity to do a fun video with Kmart Fashion featuring the coolest spring trends. If you haven’t seen it check it out by clicking HERE. The whole process was amazing…PLUS I got to see, try, and play with different collections available at Kmart.

This fall season, I decided to go back to my local Kmart and see what deals I could find. As always, there was a wide selection: I found some great basic tops by Jaclyn Smith for under $10,  the perfect versatile black dress by Attention for many upcoming Holiday parties, and a pair of Bongo studded flats that are designer inspired by for a fraction of the price! There’s definitely something for everyone: timeless girls, edgy girls, boho girls, and beyond.

For my first look, I found this cool plaid crop top that gives me a touch of fall in this never-ending Miami heat. I paired it with some ripped jeans by Joe Boxer and a pair of comfortable edgy sneakers also by Joe Boxer.

Then for my second look, I went for more of a “Miami” vibe- but what’s great is the clothing pieces can easily transition when the temperatures drop a little. I’m sure I’m going to wear this Joe Boxer denim skirt with some over the knee boots and a turtleneck sweater.

Which look is your favorite?

Don’t forget to check out all the versatile, fashionable, and affordable styles at Kmart Fashion. I’m also having a fun giveaway on my IG @nanysklozet where you can win a $500 gift card to shop at Kmart and show off your individual fall style. Good luck!!

The Icon Moto Jacket

Monday, October 12, 2015

I always look for inspiration online...but the other day something kind of different happened. I was inspired by myself...sounds pretty weird, right?. Before the blog, I had outfits that I would wear several times (one time with family...other with friends). It was so easy...but fter the blog, everything changed. I stopped rewearing the EXACT outfit not only because I wanted to create new content but as a challenge. The other day, iI was looking at pictures from last fall and I saw a similar outfit...so I switched some pieces to make it feel new and fresh. I had camel oxfords and a camel handbag- and a black leather jacket instead. And this also proves my point that you don't have to copy and exact outfit from head to toe...I want you to feel inspired and play with what you already have and what works with your style and body type.

I'm also super excited because I'm going to be collaborating for a couple of months with Coach...and I'm in love with the pieces (starting with this jacket...that YES, it is an investment but I know it will last for decades and decades). I can't wait to show you more!

XOXO

_______

Autumn in the air

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Two weeks ago I attended a fall fashion show at Macys- so of course, I headed to my local Macys to find a fall look to wear to the show.  I found this cute floral dress that I could easily layer underneath a furry white vest. Final touches to bring the autumn feel: nude boots and a burgundy hat.  I know that my Miami girls are going to tell me that I'm crazy to wear this with our high temperatures, but I also want to give fall ideas to the girls up north....plus if you take out the vest, this look is still wearable in Miami.

Hope you are having an amazing weekend!

_____

Laguna Beach, CA

Thursday, October 8, 2015

I think this is finally the last look from our trip to California. I wore this during our last day there when we drove from San Diego to los Angeles. We made several stops along the way- a pier, a beach...we ate an Argentinian restaurant (a delicious burger) and then we changed to head to the airport. While we were there, there was a heat wave...and this was the less hot day- perfect for this long sleeve dress. I added the fringe vest to make it more boho. Hope you liked the look and the pics below! XOXO

_____

¡Besos!!

How to do my everyday waves? ...with Sally Beauty

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Hey girls! I’ve done many tutorials over the past 5 years I have been blogging…from Old-Hollywood waves to fishtail buns. However, I think I have never done my everyday waves…which, I get tons of questions about.

After my favorite curling iron broke, I headed to my local Sally Beauty for a new one. After careful consideration, I went for the “Hot Shot Tools XL Ceramic Curling Iron 1 1/4 Inch”. I’ve heard great reviews about it and I wanted to share not only my first impression of the wand but also a quick tutorial on how I’ve been doing my hair with it for the past few weeks.

Date Night in Miami Beach

Monday, October 5, 2015

Almost two months ago, we had a "staycation". We stayed at the Loews Miami Hotel for a couple of days to celebrate that Gaby finished his psychology degree. That night the hotel invited us to eat at their restaurant, Lure Fish Bar, and it was AMAZING- everything was so delicious. I ended up wearing this romper that you have seen before in a casual environment..but I wanted to dress it up this time to make it appropriate for date night!
How would you wear this romper? Send me ideas because I want to wear it one more time and do a remix! XOXO

_____

¡BESOS!

Fearless in Culebra...

Saturday, October 3, 2015

Favorite method for adventures around Culebra? Trucks!
I wore this for a night at the town with our friends. Jeans were definitely a must for all the mosquito attacking along the way! We watched the sunset and ended up stopping at a couple of bars for a typical drink in Culebra called Bushwacker.

Happy Saturday!

It's all about LIPSTICK... with #BuxomBabe

Friday, October 2, 2015

You probably have noticed that I tend to do the same eye-makeup...yes, a classic cat-eye with neutral eyeshadows that I've learned to master in just 5 minutes. However, I love playing with lip color to match my mood and/or outfit.

For me, the easiest way to transform your makeup look is just by switching up your lipstick. When I'm feeling edgy, I always go for a dark burgundy...when I'm feeling classic, I go for a vibrant red...when I'm feeling extra girly, I wear a pink pout..and when, I just want to go from day to night, I go from nude to darker shade.

Today I'm teaming up with Buxom Cosmetics to review their new collection of lipstick: Buxom Bold Gel Lipstick . What can I say? I'M IN LOVE!

The collection is available in 30 saturated sating and matte shades that range from simple nudes to the darkest plum. First things first: the packaging is very elegant in an all black tube (with a magnet cap). The lipsticks are VERY pigmented,...you only need one stroke and you are ready to head out the door. Matte lipsticks tend to dry my lips but this one has moisturizing ingredients.

So I picked my favorite 10 shades....you are going to see a lot of them with my daily looks!

____

¡¡ME ENCANTARON!

It doesn't get more 90s

Thursday, October 1, 2015

Plaid? Check
Baby doll dress? Check
Tattoo choker? Check

I guess someone is stuck in the 90s...even one of my friends from high school told me the blue hair reminded her of that decade. Oh well...let's watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 90210, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer all over again.
