It’s here… the Rebecca Minkoff “Miami” Love Bag

Monday, November 30, 2015

Last week, I showed you some behind the scenes from when I was in New York with the RM and Saks team customizing a limited edition Rebecca Minkoff bag that would represent Miami

As promised…it is finally here!! and I couldn’t be more excited to show you the “Rebecca Minkoff Miami Love Bag”. The whole designing/customizing process was a blast, and seeing it in person was definitely a WOW moment for me.

The bag had to represent not only my style but also the city I’ve been calling home for almost a decade. My husband and I were talking the other day about what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Miami; I said that for me, it’s Ocean Drive and its pastel buildings and art deco architecture facing the gorgeous blue ocean.

I chose a pastel pink leather with an edgy chain that balances the sweetness of the color … I think I did a good job capturing the essence of Miami while keeping it versatile and timeless.

You can also see the bag by Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook representing LA by clicking here- and Blair’s from Atlantic Pacific representing NYC by clicking here.  I love how different the three bags are!

I hope you love the MIAMI LOVE bag!! <3 I really had so much fun and I feel so grateful… special thanks to Rebecca Minkoff and Saks for this opportunity, this is really a dream come true!

____

¡Abrazos!!

REMIX: off-the-shoulder romper

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

As soon as I saw this romper on Asos.com, I knew I was going to wear it A LOT. Believe me, these are not the only three times I've worn it! It is such a loud romper, that it can be hard to re-wear the exact same way...that's why I played with different hairstyles and accessories.

Extra: my friend Ashes into Fashion wore this romper while we were in Austin...check her look here!!

Let me know which look is your favorite!

Plaid Pop

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

This one is going to be a short post BUT we got a freaking COLD FRONT!!
It's not super cold..but it feels chilly for us crazy Miamians...which means "IT'S SWEATER WEATHER". I went with some basic boyfriend jeans and black sweater...but i love the pop of print of the plaid bag. XOXO

Ps: Excuse the weird green hair. I personally don't like it...so keep it polite please haha. I have to let it fade as much as possible before trying to go back to dark.

_______

Behind The Scenes: Rebecca Minkoff x Saks x Miami LOVE handbag

Monday, November 23, 2015

I designed a bag for Rebecca Minkoff and Saks representing Miami!!!

Wow! I cannot believe I actually just wrote this. If you would have asked me a couple of years ago: is there brand you would LOVE to collaborate? I would have said Rebecca Minkoff without even thinking it…and here I am, designing limited-edition bag that will exclusively be sold at Saks.

So let me tell you a little bit about the whole experience:
I went to NYC for a day and half in June- at the time I couldn’t say much…I barely put a little sneak peek on Snapchat (follow me there as @danidaniramirez). When I got there, I was very excited to see who the other bloggers were…and I got even more excited when I saw that the others bloggers on this collaboration were Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook (representing Los Angeles) and Blair from Atlantic Pacific (representing New York) - fashion bloggers whom I really admire and have followed for a while.

When I arrived to the showroom; the Saks  and Rebecca Minkoff teams explained to us in the detail the collaboration. They showed us different leather swatches, all the different ways the leather could be quilted, the chain options, and more. We would customized the Rebecca Minkoff Love bag to create a unique bag that represents their city.

I've been calling Miami home for almost 10 years. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Miami, besides the gorgeous beaches, is South Beach and its art deco feel in pastels...and that was my inspiration. Going through the leather swatches, there were two colors that really stood out to me: a baby pink and a mint….so that’s a clue on how the bag will look like: it will be PASTEL!

So stay tuned…my design for Rebecca Minkoff will be available at saks.com next week!!  You can also see The Edition Story by clicking HERE. XOXO

¡BESOS!

A Palm Springs Wedding

Saturday, November 21, 2015

The reason why we were in California in September was because of a wedding...and Gabe was taking the photos. Since we were traveling to the other side of the country we decided to stay and road-trip around California. Here are the links to the rest of the posts from our trip:

The wedding was a dream...so them!! The backdrop for the ceremony were the Palm Springs mountains and everything had a bohemian vibe. I helped Gabe a little with the photos by taking some polaroids! The bride is also a blogger, check out her blog: Kar Gar Ohh Snap.

About my look: even though it was over 100 degrees F, I wanted to wear this gorgeous floral maxi skirt. It comes with a crop top but it didn't fit me (man, these boobs!!). So I wore this crop top I've had for years from Furor Moda and it was perfect!

Hope you like the pics!

_____

#FeelJoy with Glade®

Friday, November 20, 2015

I’m so excited to be partnering with Glade® to turn Black Friday into BRIGHT FRIDAY!

Black Friday is when holiday shopping madness begins. Pretty holiday lights start to appear throughout the city, and we start to add a little sparkle and shine to our looks, to match our mood.

For some, however, the holiday spirit can feel overwhelming. In fact, according to a holiday survey conducted by Glade®, Miamians are 32 percent more likely than the average American to say the holiday season is less joyous than the rest of the year.

I think we need to step back and remember that this is a time for love, joy and giving. After living in Miami for almost 10 years, I’ve noticed that there are many places that help people in need that deserve small moments of joy this season.

This is the reason why I’m joining Glade® and four other bloggers around the country to find areas in our cities that could use an extra boost of joy this holiday season.

This year, Glade® is going to put up a beautiful light installation at the Chapman Partnership, at 1550 N. Miami Ave., in downtown Miami. This non-profit organization has been part of the Miami community for more than 20 years, and has had more than 100,000 admissions including 20,000 children in Miami-Dade County and a 64% success rate of moving people who complete the program from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The Chapman Partnership provides emergency housing, meals, medical care, dental care and psychiatric care, as well as job training, job placement and assistance finding secure, stable housing.

I am so excited to see the light installation and I can’t wait to see all the joy it will bring to those that live and work within the shelter. I really hope the lights, which will be up from Friday, November 27 through the holiday season, will bring out the beautiful emotions that come with the season. Be sure to check out all kinds of joyful content on feelingsofjoy.com and share your joyful moments, using #FeelJoy.

________

Holiday Hairstyle Idea: Glam Half Top Knot….with Sally Beauty

Thursday, November 19, 2015

I still can’t believe the Holiday season is right around the corner. So today I wanted to share an easy tutorial on how to do a glam half top knot. This hairstyle has been all over in 2015, and it can work perfectly for the Holidays. It will make a cozy outfit a little bit more fun….it will work with edgier looks…and it will also make a sequin dress modern and hip.
Before & After

Shampoo & Conditioner.

Using the right shampoo and conditioner will make a difference in the texture of your head. I recently went again to Sally Beauty, which is always my go-to for salon-quality hair, skin and nail essentials at the best prices. I asked for their best line of moisturizing shampoo and conditioner- my hair is very dry from having ombré and bleaching it for the past two years. The sales associate at the store was very helpful and she recommended me the ZP 180 PRO Moisture Repair Shampoo and the ZP 180 PRO Moisture Repair Conditioner. After just one use I felt instant and deep hydration; it says it is formulated with ultra-reparative Pro-Peptide Complex and can repair up to 2 years of hair abuse.

Blow Dry and Curling Iron

My hair is so frizzy and unpredictably curly that I have become addicted to the blow dryer when it comes to hairstyling (hey, I’m not the only one). Recommendation: Ion Whirlwind Pro Oscillating Dryer, which has a unique automatic oscillating technology (this distributes airflow more efficiently meaning less drying time, and less damage). If your hair is curly like mine, focus on making the roots straight (the ends don’t have to be perfect). If your hair is straight, put the blow dryer in the low temperature setting and use a diffuser.  You can wear this hairstyle straight, wavy, or curly…but I like giving my hair a little texture so I’m using the Hot Shot Tools XL Ceramic Curling Iron 1 1/4 inch. I’m just focusing on giving it more of a messy look.

Some tips to reduce hair damage as much as possible:

  • For example, I try to only use hot tools twice a week. Try washing it at least every other day, let your hair produce its natural oils…and washing it less also means that you don’t need to use hot tools so often.
  • Use a heat protectant. Don’t have it hidden in your bathroom…have it right there beside your blow dryer so you never forget. Here I’m using “Beyond The Zone Smooth Criminal Thermo Protect Spray”- this one seals the hair cuticle against temperatures up to 450 degrees F.
  • Don’t start blow drying your hair when it’s VERY WET- wait until at least 50% of it is damp. The less heat you have to apply to your hair, the better…and it doesn’t have to be dripping to make it manageable.
  • Know your hair’s heat tolerance. Every hair is difference; some hair types can handle heat styling better in the long run. Also take into consideration that if your hair has been chemically processed, it’s heat tolerance will be lower. You don’t always have to put your curling iron at its highest…play with it, know your hair! Here is a general guide. If your hair is fine, don’t go higher than 300 degrees F. If your hair is medium: try between 300 and 375 degrees F. If your hair is coarse, you can go up to the low 400s.
  • To reduce hair damage in the long run, hold the blow dryer at least 6 inches away from your hair.

Half Top Knot

  • Using a Pintail comb , section your hair off to do a half ponytail. You can make it as high or low as your want. You can also use as much hair as you want. Some people go from the ear diagonally up…but I like to section it off where a receding hairline would start.
  • Just like you would do a regular top knot, twist around and secure with a hair tie.
  • Finally I like using a bobby pin to make the bun a little flatter. I got the MetaGrip Premium Hair Pins in Bronze- which are slip proof so that little bun won’t move anywhere.

…and we are ready!! Wait!! The final touch to make this look more glam: red lipstick. Here I’m wearing Femme Couture Primer Wear Lipstick in Blushing Red

I hope you liked this easy tutorial! If you try this glam top knot, don’t forget to tag me and @SallyBeautySupply with the hashtag #SallyHairDare XOXO

UGLY HOLIDAY SWEATERS

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

For the past couple of years, I've been hosting Ugly Sweater Parties at my house...and I love them. I love the "tacky" sweaters and the Holiday spirit that comes with them.

I'm definitely not the only one since tons of stores are now selling many options...from traditional sweaters, to cute ones, and funny ones (well, and definitely some offensive ones, but let's not get into that!).

Also below are some easy ideas on how to make these sweaters a little more fashionable...but still fun and Holiday appropriate. Which one is your favorite? Which one would you wear?

Ps. Check out two outfits I've worn with Ugly Sweaters:

______

HOLIDAY ROMPERS: Win my look with Parker

Monday, November 16, 2015

2015 was the year of rompers for me...and I'm definitely not stopping for the Holidays.
Rompers can be as dressy as dress and as comfortable as shorts.

Today I'm partnering with Parker to show you two of my favorite pieces from their Holiday 2015 collection. The first one is a long sleeve laced red romper and the second a sequined romper with pockets (yes, pockets!!). But the best part is that YOU CAN WIN MY LOOK.

How?
Head over to http://bit.ly/1WJbTtZ and vote for my look (or the one you want to win!)
You just have to enter your name and email address.
You can also share your vote using the hashtag #VoteWinWear
The winner will be announced on 11/22.

Good luck babes!!

_______

¡Buena suerte!

The Sequin Dress…with EXPRESS

Sunday, November 15, 2015

The Holiday season…a time where wearing sequins is not only appropriate but encouraged.

There’s something about Christmas and New Years Eve that calls for a sparkly look…I mean, sequins, fireworks, and champagne were all made for each other…right?

I know it’s still the middle of November, and if you are starting to look for the perfect party dress…I really recommend stopping by Express. I found this perfect sequined V-back mini dress- perfect for this season. There were tons of flirty party numbers…from, lace to sequins and sheer panels. I paired this dress with some strappy heels, also from Express; but if you live in colder weather, you can easily layer with some tights underneath and wear this sequin dress with a coat while you get to the party.

Are you ready for the Holidays? What are you wearing?

________

REMIX: Fringe Vest

Saturday, November 14, 2015

I got this fringe vest during our trip to California and I wore instantly over there TWICE. When I got to Miami I decided to cut the fringe a little because I feel it was a little long for me.

Which look was your favorite? You can fin the exact vest by clicking here --> Express

______

You Are More Than a Number...

Thursday, November 12, 2015

I miss the times when people just shared because they wanted to share…when photos weren’t deleted because they didn’t get enough likes…when people didn’t have schedules on what to post or when, when people’s first question wasn’t “how do I get more followers”.

I hate thinking that I have to post at 8am because that’s when people check their timelines, or at 11pm before people go to sleep. I hate overthinking every photo, having to check the photos I’ve posted before to make sure if goes with “my theme” or coloring . I hate having to open at least three photo-editing programs before posting a photo.

Hey, I admit it…I did it once. I sat down with my agenda and I wrote down: Social Media Strategy. It included different categories, how many times I would post, at what time, and exactly what. Yes, I get it…this is my work. But the thing I loved the most about my blog, is that it didn’t feel like a job.

But honestly, this is not what bothers me the most….what really bothers me is being judged for a number…I am more than a number…I want to be more than a number.

When I started blogging in 2009, the social media world was a whole different story. Twitter just started and people were still figuring out how to reduce their thoughts to 140 characters. I’ve seen it evolve..and I’m not liking where it is heading.

When I started blogging nobody knew who had more readers or followers- you could barely figure it out by the amount of comments a blog had. But this day and age, it is very different…the first thing you see when you go to someone’s profile is: XXXX followers…and that’s when it became a competition, when we started to get ranked, when people started to get gig based on their followers and not on their talent.

I’m tired of comparing myself to others, of thinking: “why is she growing faster than me?” “what can I do differently to get more likes”?  “How did she blow up? Is she buying likes?” There has been times where I’ve felt I was doing something wrong because my growth wasn’t as good as some of my fellow bloggers. I’m human, I didn’t want it to affect me…but it did.

The most important thing to understand is that the quantity of followers does not equal to quality of work…and it definitely does not equal to quality of heart.

One time I was at a big national photoshoot and the lady doing my makeup told me that she wasn’t getting some jobs because “she didn’t have enough followers”- according to some brands. I have to say, she was amazing at what she did….and her “numbers” had nothing to do with it.  Her job is not to tweet (instagram, vine, or whatever the hell that new social network that just came out)…her job is to do some kick-ass makeup that will elevate the overall value of the photoshoot. This is also happening for models, photographers…and all creatives in a bunch of industries.

I want to work with individuals that are talented, genuine, and professional. I wanna see passion, I wanna see knowledge, I wanna see a will to learn, and to grow (as a person and as a professional).

I want ME to have bigger goals that a number in my profile. I want YOU to have bigger goals that a number in your profile.

Real vs Steal: IT BAGS

Monday, November 9, 2015

chanel, chloe, drew bag, fashion, forever 21, handbags, it bags, look for less, proenza schouler, real vs steal, stella mccartney,

I'm all about investing in designer bags...there's nothing like saving up for a bag you really want. But let's be honest, most of us can't afford a new it bag every other week. So I went to some of my favorite sites (Forever 21, Aldo, and Steve Madden), and found very similar versions of designer bags.

Years ago, I started getting call out on wearing "knock-offs all the time". I was still in college, on a budget, and I never said they were the real deal. I don't encourage knock-offs; one thing is wearing a designer inspired (even if it's almost identical and that you can get in any major store) , and another is getting a cheap version (with logos and everything) at a shady website or on the street.

Which one would you get? The real or the steal?

_______

Little Elephants & Mustard skirt

Sunday, November 8, 2015

I got this shirt in Zara for my mom...it reminded me of her because of the little elephants. My family loves elephants and we were supposed to get matching tattoos, but she backed out (such a party pooper, Mom!!). So I saw this shirt and I thought it was perfect for her, super annoying of me of course. I wanted to try it on and I ended up loving it. I loved it so much that I wore it two days in a row. First how you see it in this look for a Tous event I was hosting...and then the next day with jeans for a Clinique event that was one on one. Hope you have an amazing week! XOXO

______

Glamour x Mara Hoffman x Maybelline New York

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Every girl deserves an education…a right that we often we take for granted. Right now, there are 50 million girls around the world between the ages of 12 and 18 that don’t get that chance: they might live where it’s taboo to educate girls, or must walk to school in fear of being kidnapped, or simply can’t afford school fees.

This is the reason why Glamour, with CARE, Plan International USA, Girls INC., and Communities in School, started “The Girl Project”. This amazing initiative’s goal is to send girls all over the world to school (You can read more about it on thegirlproject.com). For the December issue, Glamour has partnered with Mara Hoffman and Maybelline New York to create a stylish tote…and 100% of all sales benefit The Girl Project. Such an amazing initiative + each bag will be stuffed with Maybelline New York products. The tote retails for $172 and it is available for sale at fancy.com and in Marahoffman.com starting on November 10th.

This gorgeous tote adds a great touch of color anywhere you go…you can wear it to run errands, to go to the beach…it is perfect for every day. But the best part is that by giving it to yourself (or to a girl you care about), you know you are helping girls around the world…and nothing beats that!

______
