The Pink Coat

Saturday, January 30, 2016

Sooo... I've had this pink trench in my closet for more than a year. I got it last year before New York Fashion Week. However, It wasn't warm enough for NYC in February...and we didn't get an actual winter last year in Miami. The past couple of weeks, we have gotten some cold days in Miami. So if it was the perfect time to finally wear my pink trench. I went for a minimalist combo with grey jeans and a beige sweater.

I hope we can wear it again with regular blue jeans or with a grey sweater dress.

How would you wear a pink coat?

HIS & HERS: ATHLEISURE...with Gap Factory

Thursday, January 28, 2016

I'm a comfort-type of person....we both are. As a style blogger, I absolutely love dressing up and wearing heels... but there are many days I would just love to stay in yoga pants all day every day.

Reason why I'm so excited to see the 'Athleisure" trend getting stronger and stronger for 2016. In case you are wondering what is Athleisure? It is basically wearing athletic wear outside of the gym...or from the gym, to running errands, and even brunch.

And that's exactly what I'm loving about this trend, you can adapt it to your style and lifestyle. You can be as creative as you want while staying oh-so-comfortable!

For example , this Gap Factory grey sweatshirt can be worn post work-out or dress it up for a casual lunch date. I first wore it for a long walk with Chiki the pup. It was chilly out that day  so I just threw it over my sports bra and leggings..and we headed to a nearby favorite juice place.

Then, Gabe and I got hungry so we had a casual lunch date in our Athleisure outfits. This time, I paired it with black jeans, a black moto jacket, and cool elements to give it that dressy feel. He was also wearing a Gap Factory hoodie...and looking so freaking handsome <3

Gap Factory has always been a favorite of me...especially for basics and athletic wear. The quality is amazing, and the affordable prices make you want to grab an extra thing...or two!

Hope you like the pics and let me know if you want to see more his&hers! XOXO

¡BESOS!

Chi-Town... Day 4: Snowing

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

And Chicago said Good-Bye to us with a gorgeous snow fall.  This was just right before heading to the airport, but we had to stop (right in front of the hotel) and take pictures. I didn't see snow until I was 15...and every time I see it, it's just so magical.

The only downside to these pictures was that, since we were about to leave, I wasn't wearing any thermal underwear or tons of layers. I don't think you can tell how cold I was from these pics haha.

Hope you like them! XOXO

¡ABRAZOS!

Chi-Town...Day 3: Navy Pier

Chi-Town .... Day #2

Sunday, January 24, 2016

The reason why I was in Chicago was to renew my Venezuelan passport. Yes, I had to go down all the way down to Chicago for that (even though Miami has the largest Venezuelan population in the U.S...which is mainly against the current government). Why? Because the Venezuelan government closed the consulate in Miami after the U.S government expeled a Venezuelan diplomat. Oh politics...always making things harder.

But instead of looking at the glass half empty, we made a trip out of it...and we spent 4 days, 3 nights in The Windy City. This is the day I had my passport appointment in the early morning. I headed there, as nervous as I could be (since this wasn't my first try...long story short, I went to Puerto Rico first in November- and the people there were not helpful at all).  Fortunately, everything went good and we were out of there in less than an hour!!

After my appointment, we headed to have breakfast at this place called Beatrix. It was a delicious..try the lemon packages and the quinoa cakes with eggs!. Then we headed to the famous bean...the Millennium Park looked beautiful all covered in snow. Then we tried walking by the river but it was SO SO cold. We would stop every 10 minutes and we would enter any store, coffee shop, hotel, or pharmacy just to warm up for a little. We also went to a place, to have early dinner, that you guys recommended on IG called Mercadito Kitchen. They had a "happy hour" and we had some amazing margaritas..and the chicken tacos were deliciously good.

About my look: I love this jacket. It's Asos Petite (so YAY for no long sleeves and no awkward length). I paired it with this cozy blanket scarf and a camel sweater dress underneath. I had the over-the-knee with thermal leggings and fleece tights. All about layers <3

Enjoy the pics below! XOXO

Capas, capas y capas.

¡Disfruten las fotitos debajo! BESOS.

Chicago's SKYDECK

Saturday, January 23, 2016

These pictures should have been on yesterday's post. However, the experience was really fun and I decided to make them two.  Check out my look with a coat, gloves, and all those crazy layers.

We starting checking online about things to do that were indoors. This was the coldest day of all (at 5 degrees F). A venezuelan friend who used to live in Chicago, Soraya from Chic Flavours, recommended Skydeck...so we headed that way.

The tickets are usually $22 per person but we used an app called "Popular Pays"- which is great for bloggers and ifnluencers. You can get paid sigs but there is a section on local business where they offer food/drinks/attractions in exchange of a shout-out in social media. It's crazy how the social media world has changed everything...and they don't ask for a crazy amount of followers (500 for coffee, for example). Going back to my point, we did this at Skydeck...we knew either way we were going to post a picture at it so might as well take advantage of the app. **This is in no way sponsored, I just wanted to share it**

The building is called "Willis Tower" and it is the second tallest building in North America. You get to see the beautiful city from the 103th floor. They also added some cool glass boxes so you can step out and look down (definitely scary for those who are afraid of heights...there was a lady that went in crawling...it was hilariously cute!)

Hope you like the pictures! XOXO

Chi Town...Day #1

Friday, January 22, 2016

Oh Chicago! Chicago!
It wasn't the first time I've been in Chicago. I went twice in 2011- one for a marathon with Nike and then for a hispanic conference called Latism. Check out those posts, I look like a baby (and let's not even talk about what I was wearing). However, this time I went with Gabe and we love exploring the city.

We really loved it, it looked so beautiful with snow everywhere...and the lake was frozen!

We got there on Monday, we checked in, showered, and headed straight to have lunch. A couple of people recommended Giordanos where they are known for their Chicago-style pizzas. Honestly it was a good and bad decision. It was delicious but it was so big!! We didn't expect it! After that we headed to the Skydeck to see the city from the #103. I was going to add those pics on this post but they need their own posts (so stay tuned for that tomorrow).

About what I'm wearing, I realized I don't really own a lot of winter clothes (hey, I live in Miami, why would I). Everything I took to this 4 day trip was the same I wore in NYFW last year. The coat is from Desigual but it is obviously sold out (I linked to similar options below). I also realized that even though I love small bags, they are not for the winter. So this Coach swagger bag was perfect for this trip, that way I can add the gloves and everything inside (tell me I'm not the only one who does this!).

Have amazing weekend!

¡Chicago! ¡Chicago!!

Camel Coat & Sneakers

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Looking back at my latest posts...all I want to wear is basic and timeless pieces.

When it comes to coats (piece that I don't get to wear that often because of Miami's never ending summer). But I really recommend investing in a camel coat...they really are timeless and work with every style.

The last time I wore it was last year, with a big midi skirt and a stripped shirt...very Parisian.  However, this time I went for a casual and chill all-black look with sneakers. See it is so versatile!

I really hope the 2016 Miami Winter lasts more than the usual so I can wear it again and be able to remix it before 2017! Now that I'm visiting Chicago for a couple of days, I can see that this coat specifically would only work in Miami (it is very light!)...in real winters, I would get pneumonia!

Hope you are having a great (and warm) week!!

SHORT HAIR DON'T CARE

Sunday, January 17, 2016

Finally... I DID IT! I CUT MY HAIR!

Ever since 2011, I wanted to cut my hair shoulder-lenght...but I couldn't! As Latinas, we are raised that long beautiful hair is "the only option"- which is very sad, because it is just hair...and just as  clothes, we should be able to express who we are with our hairstyle and makeup. My plan last year was to have a balayage that would let me do blue eventually..and then chop the blue out. I did exactly that!

I called Marcos Carrasquillo, who has been doing my hair for years now at his salon, Qui Salon. He was the guy behind my ombre in 2013, the pink tips in 2014, the balayage in 2015...and now the lob in 2016! He just opened a second salon in Davie, FL (the other one is in Doral, FL)..and I'm still waiting for one in Downtown or Midtown so I can go more often. As usual, I took some references of the hair that I wanted and he did an amazing job. I'm so so happy with it...I feel like a new person...NEW YEAR, NEW ME!

I wore this on Friday for a lunch with Givenchy Beauty at Casa Tua. The food was incredible and it was the 1st official blogger event of the year for me. Can't wait to try the new collection of lipsticks: Rouge Interdit and I'll share what I think!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend! I'm going to Chicago this week...wish me luck, I'm nervous about the cold situation! XOXO

¡BESOS!

Totally Ripped

Friday, January 15, 2016

true religion, black ripped jeans, furor moda, fearless tee, garrote, army jacket, coach, white sneakers, proenza schouler, ps11, gant eyeglasses, coordinates bracelet, miami, miami winter, miami fashion blogger,

The weather in Miami has been pure perfection (well, it's been raining more than the usual...but temperature-wise!)...you only need a light jacket. That kind of reminds me of Miss Congeniality and the answer about the perfect "date"...totally random!

I wore this the past weekend to go have lunch with my parents- who were visiting from Venezuela- and then we dropped off Gabe at the airport because he was heading to Florence for an amazing opportunity at the event Firenze Forever...you have to check his IG @gabe_media for all the amazing pictures he took there!.

This is my last look with long hair!! I don't miss it one bit! Happy Weekend!!

REMIX: 13 ways to wear LACE-UP heels

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

I think I got these heels in 2012...and, 4 years later, they are still some of my favorite shoes. I've worn them with everything: classy midi skirts, edgy ripped jeans, flirty mini skirts, sporty joggers, and more. It's crazy to see how much my hair changes in all these pics...from pink ombre, super long and dark, long ombré, and now this weird green/blue. I got them for $40 in Shoedazzle...but as you can imagine, they are long gone. So I'm going to link to similar options and different price ranges. They are also a great heel to invest in if you want a designer pair...believe me, you can wear them all the time. Let me know which look is your favorite!!

¡Besos!

LEATHER & RIPPED JEANS

Monday, January 11, 2016

You all know that I don't buy designer stuff like crazy. When I buy a designer piece, I treat is an investment piece not like an impulse buy (just like if I was buying a car...I haven't changed my car in 10 years, so that shows how much I overthink big purchases). As I mentioned on the article "8 ways to update your wardrobe", every year I sell as much as I can on Poshmark and then treat myself to a big gift at the end of the year (and for every thing I sell, I have to donate something. My mom takes at least two boxes of clothes to Venezuela every time she visits me). I don't know how much time I spent looking at different bags; the style, the price, discount codes, its weight...even researching even how many pockets it had. I went for the Proenza Schouler and I LOVE IT. It's the perfect size, it's not that dressy so I can wear it all the time...and well, I have a thing for black bags and their versatility. I couldn't wait to wear it. I went for a rocker-ish outfit with these white ripped jeans, a rock & roll tee, and the coolest burgundy leather jacket (which was a gift from my sweet friend Ashley- Ashes into Fashion).
Talking about investment bags...I'll do an article on 10 designer bags that are worth the investment. I'm pretty sure I will add an affordable option too...let me know if you like that idea! XOXO
¡BESOS!

8 FASHION TRENDS TO TRY IN 2016

Saturday, January 9, 2016

fashion trends, trend report, ruffles, bombers, sequins, tie dye, off the shoulder, denim stripes, lingerie inspired, runway, nyfw, spring 2016

Every year I sit down and I write my New Year's Resolutions. Besides including the basics (eating better and exercising more), I always add trying new fashion and beauty trends.  As I like to say, fashion is supposed to be fun...it's not about following trends but having fun with those you like. Think of the new year as a chance for a NEW YOU. Dare to be different, dare to express who you are through clothes, and dare to go after your dreams while looking extra stylish.

Today I'm going to talk about 8 fashion trends that you should give it a try in 2016. I made sure that all the items in the "shop the look" section were under $150 (trying to keep it as affordable as possible!). Let me know which one is your favorite (or if I missed your favorite) and how would you wear it!

¡Besos!

Honestly, the best part of meeting my now-husband at the young age of 17 years old is seeing him grow and become the amazing man he is (not that he wasn't amazing before, but he was just a little boy!). When we started dating he was studying pre-me, he later switched to psychology (and even though he has a Doctorate degree in Psychology, his heart and soul fell in love with photography along the way). One of his dreams/goals was to work with Leica somehow...and he really went for it. He headed to a meet-and-greet with the executives at one of their stores and offered his services. Yesterday (while wearing this outfit, hence this story), I saw him do a talk on photography at the Leica store. It was PACKED, more than 100 people RSVPd...and I was there, sitting first row thinking how I can wait to see him fulfill all of his dreams <3

First post of the new year!!!
I'm so excited about 2016! However, I'm not so excited about the way I've been feeling. I'm a little uninspired when it comes to dressing up. Looking back, I've done more than 1,000 outfits on this blog. And every time I'm dressing up I feel like I have done a similar look before and I like to keep me challenged. However, I think it's time to look back and re-do some of the looks I've done but modernize them. I've always said that it is about having key pieces that you can wear year after year...so I might start doing that too!

I would love to know what sites do you visit need a little extra inspiration!! Let me know in the comments! Or leave me a comment to your blog and I'll check it out!! <3 XOXO

BESOS
