Polka dotted !

Photobucket

Hi everyone! How are you!? This looks kind of reminds me to my friend and blogger Steffy (de Steffy Pros and Cons)- if you follow her blog, you know her cute vintage style includes lots of polka dots, button ups, and bows.  I really like following blogs that are not necessarily my style because they inspire me to try different combos while giving the look my own twist and style. This week has not been my week- my car broke down while taking my computer to apple (the hard-drive failed- I still don't know if I lost everything that was in it!); so for a couple of days I had no car... and no computer! (quick reminder: back up all your files...often!!). I'm almost on finals week at the university, so I have been working on projects non-stop- I'm specially proud of a "college magazine" I'm doing for my magazines class. Have an amazing Friday! Once again... thanks! I know I say it a lot but I'm really thankful for all your support with the blog! XOXO

Hola!

I have worn this JC Penney jeans so much- I bought them a while ago and they were under $20! As you can see above, I mainly paired them with neutral colors like beige, white and black (and prints within the same colors). How would you wear this jeans? Which one was your favorite?

Neon wedding

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Photobucket

Last Sunday we went to a friend's wedding in Ft. Lauderdale (yes, Sunday because it was Memorial Day this weekend). Lately I feel old...everyone is either getting married or having babies! The wedding was at a gorgeous hotel- and even though they had to improvised because of a storm (unpredictable Miami weather)...everything was absolutely breathtaking. The party was on the last floor of the hotel, with a beautiful view of the city and a spinning floor (so you can actually see the view 360!) However, the best part was seeing our friends so happy and enjoying on their day (you'll see below pics- Gabo keeps getting better and better... if you ever need a photographer, let me know!) About my outfit: I thought it was a black-tie thing with long dresses and everything- so I had two options: a boring black dress or a royal blue  one (which I thankfully didn't wear because it look just like the bridesmaids' dresses). I ended up wearing this unique neon dress that 2020Ave lent me for a professional photo shoot (but I fell in love with it and ended offering to pay for it just to wear it that day; can you believe it's just $35!). Thanks for stopping by! XOXO

¡Abrazos!

Celebrity inspired: NINA & IAN

Photobucket

I think I have already said how much Gabo and I love the show "The Vampire Diaries"- reason why doing this celebrity inspired look was even more fun than usual (and I'm in love with Ian **sigh**). As soon as I saw these neon shorts at Target, where I regularly go just for groceries,  I was like "we have to Ian&Nina on the blog!!"- and it was easy to talk Gabo into it because Ian's look is very simple (he said the the fedora was too hipster for him lol). We wore this to run some errands, do some shopping, and eat sushi. Back to comparing the outfits: Nina's shorts retail for more than $159 (they are "7 for All Mankin"), her bag costs around $295, and her Ray Ban glasses $150- while my COMPLETE look (considering hat, sunglasses, and necklace) costs exactly $100! (yes! just $100). All the details are below, even Gabo's outfit (which is very affordable too, under $150). Hope you liked it! Have an amazing week! XOXO

Check out the other "celebrity couple inspired looks":

FELIZ SEMANA!

We challenge you to.. WEAR CROCHET or LACE!

Photobucket

What's "I challenge you to..."? It's bi-weekly special where we (Flor de Maria Fashion,  Ashes into Fashion and I) challenge our readers and bloggers around the globe to wear specific trends or themes- and we would love if you could join us. Every other Monday, we'll publish the the challenge, so you have two weeks to plan your outfit and wear it. Then, that following Sunday: we'll show you how we wore the trend/theme and you'll be able to share your link & outfit with everyone.

This time we challenge you to wear lace, or a variation of it: crochet. The Spring/Summer 2012 collections were full of this material, specially the dreamy Louis Vuitton collection show with the carrousel- and that Valentino pink lace blouse with illusion panels is to die for! Can't wait to see you wearing crochet or lace!

ARE YOU READY?

Tropical attitude

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Photobucket

Tropical prints were all over the Spring/Summer 2012 runways- and I love them, it's a fun twist of the regular floral prints. As soon as I saw this one from LOVE .. I loved it (yes double love!)- since it's such a big statement, I kept the accessories to the minimal. I just added a pop of color with the bag, but since it's such a small purse, it really doesn't take away from the dress. As you have seen on the blog, I love wearing my classic black pumps; but I feel they can look too dressy. Reason why I got these wedges at Payless   they are more casual, and SO comfortable (best part, they cost less than $30). I wore this on Friday to go to a salad/wrap restaurant, nothing special- we just wanted to go out and eat healthy. After that I headed to the mall to find neon accessories- I'm so excited because next week I'm doing my first official photo shoot as a stylist and the theme is neons! I hope you are having an amazing weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

_______________

Absolute coral!

Friday, May 25, 2012

After days and days of unstoppable rain (it got so crazy that you couldn't even drive where I live because of the water on the streets)... the sun was finally out, which means crazy heat and humidity. Reason why I wanted to wear my favorite skirt: it's not only gorgeous with the prettiest coral color, it's also very flawy and light  (perfect for this weather). Even though it's already sold out at  2020ave, I left a link below with different stores that have similar styles. I wore this yesterday to visit my friend and owner of Furor Moda, Tatiana- we spent hours and hours talking and playing with clothes, as usual. Oh by the way, the star you see in the pic is not a real tattoo, it's a temporary one from  Inkwear. Years ago I wanted a star there, but A LOT smaller- but I never got it because I always change my mind... reason why it's better to play with this temporal tattoos. Do you have any tattoos? Would you get one? Have an amazing weekend! XOXO

ps: I almost forgot to announce the three winners of the Naughty Monkey giveaway- I already email them to claim their prize. Congrats Alba, Maya and "Traverse Girl".

________________

Felicidades a Alba, Maya, y "Traverse Girl"

REMIX: green jeans!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Photobucket
1. Color-blocking in the rain   2.  Green on light blue   3. Stupid crazy love.. kinda  4.  Feather earrings

This remix was supposed to be published by the end of the week; but I'm the worst at trying to keep a post as a draft! This time I'm wearing the same pair of jeans from JC Penney four different ways; with a simple purple top to color block, with a light blue blouse, with a basic dolman top, and a jean vest. Let me know below which one is your favorite!

__________

Take me to PARIS

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Photobucket

This outfit reminds me so much of Paris: mostly because of the matelot shirt, the two-tone shoes a la'Chanel, the colors... the only thing missing is the Eiffel Tower as the background **sigh, I love that city**. About the outfit: I know I wore this skirt+belt VERY recently, but I feel the vibe of the outfit is completely different and you all know how much I love re-wearing things. I finally found this shirt last month on Romwe, and I like how the stripes start just below the shoulder line. Also, check out how the shoes from the DIY look on- I'm sure when I get tired of the white, I'll add a layer of fun neon color .  I wore this on Saturday to go to have sushi at my favorite restaurant with my parents and Gabo- then we headed to an ice-cream/yogurt place for dessert.. I hope you liked my Parisin chic look! AU REVOIR

_____________

A thousand flowers blooming...

Monday, May 21, 2012

Photobucket

As you can see.. I'm obsessed with floral prints this season: from pantasshirtsskirts, shoes.. and now, shorts! I know that I'm going to wear them A LOT because of the infernal heat and humidity of Miami during the summer (and right now, it's raining every single day after 3pm; it's almost impossible to take pictures for the blog! ) On Sunday, I paired the shorts with a simple white shirt, pink accessories and a navy blue bag. I was a very relaxing day, we were supposed to go to a park and my dad was going to cook a bbq... but the rain didn't let us. So my mom cook a Thailand dish, which is SO delicious. Later on we wanted to go to walk around Miami Beach, but it was still raining :( But it was a fun family Sunday! Once again, thanks for stopping by! It means the world to me! Have an amazing weekend!

_____________________

FELIZ SEMANA!

DIY: Cap-toe pumps!

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Photobucket

A couple of weeks ago, I saw Jessica Alba wearing a pair of gorgeous two-tone Giuseppe Zanotti (as the ones you can see above, they retail for $650). Even though I'm terrible at arts and crafts, I decided to give it a try a do my first DIY on the blog. It's so easy that you don't need to read the steps below.

You only need: a pair of pointy pumps (preferably cheap, just in case)- nail polish (it can be any color, from white to neons- you can create your own combo.. I went for the classic B&W) You also need tape and of course.. scissors.

Start off by (1) Calculating how much you want to paint, and putting the tape on. Just make sure both "toe-caps" are the same size. Then (2) start painting the tip of the shoe.. and (3) give it as many layers as it needs to cover the original color of the shoe. Finally (4) let it dry for a while and (5) remove the tape.. VOILA... new Giuseppe Zanotti inspired shoes for less than $30!!

I hope you liked my first DIY- it actually took me a LOT of time to do this little collage...but it was so much fun! Can't wait to wear them!

__________
