Take your SkinCare Routine to the Next Level…with Clinique

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

When I was 16,  I started getting acne in the cheek area and my mom instantly took me to a dermatologist. At that very moment, I began taking my skincare routine very seriously. For the past 11 years, I have been very strict with it; I religiously remove my makeup every night and I always follow an easy 3-step-routine at day and at night.

THE IMPORTANCE OF REMOVING MAKEUP AT THE END OF THE DAY

Clinique was one of the first brands I ever used,  because my mom was, and still is, a vivid fan of the brand. I remember the blue “Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent” in my mom beauty corner since I was a little girl… it was her favorite. When I moved away from home at the young age of 17,  it meant “no more sharing mom’s beauty products” and I had to get my own.

Over the years, Clinique has expanded it product line…and I found my own favorite: “Take The Day Off” makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips. It’s like the upgraded version of my mom’s version from the 90s- it even takes away waterproof mascara and long-lasting makeup (yes, I’m talking about those long-wear lipsticks that feel impossible to take off).

To use it:  Always start with your lips, and them move onto your eyes. For best results: shake the bottle well, soak the cotton pad in the product, hold it for a few seconds, and gently wipe it away.

but the real question: why is it so important NOT to sleep with makeup? Wrinkles become deeper, dry skin feels tighter and less elastic because collage production decreases,  pores become larger, oily skin tends to break out more. If you forget a few nights here and there, it’s okay. But not cleansing long term can be detrimental to your skin

.

3-STEP ROUTINE: Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Moisturize

When traveling, makeup removing wipes are easy and convenient.  But no matter if you are using a wipe or a liquid makeup remover…it shouldn’t substitute a real routine. All dermatologists agree that a custom 3-step routine that targets your concerns is your best bet,

It’s really important to understand your skin type and what products works best FOR YOU. I recommend you taking the Skin Diagnostic on clinique.com . You choose your skin concerns, your age group, sensitivity, skin tone, lifestyle, etc. When you hit submit, you get a list of product recommendations. For daily skin care I got:

  1. Cleanse: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild- for dry combination
  2. Exfoliate: Clinique Clarifying Lotion- for dry combination.
  3. Moisturize: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

It also  recommended me a couple of products for dryness, which is my main concern (even though I get the “it’s that time of the month” pimple every month. I decided to try the Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. It’s creamy and very nourishing…I wake up plumped and luminous #anotherfavorite!

  1. Cleanse: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild- for dry combination
  2. Exfoliate: Clinique Clarifying Lotion- for dry combination.
  3. Moisturize: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

DEEP (but Gentle) CLEANSING WITH A CLEANSING BRUSH.

If you want to take your skincare routine to the next level, try a cleansing brush like the Clinique Sonic System. Just add it to your routine when applying your cleanser (step #1)… your routine will become more effective and it will remove any dirt and oil that hand washing might miss.

WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES

If you are very on-top of your skincare routine but you are still experiencing break-outs or a skin sensitivity you can’t explain, make sure you are cleaning your brushes properly.

A lot of people wash their brushes with baby shampoo or even dish soap…would you apply that to your skin? Probably not- so why use it on things you use directly on your skin. I’ m loving Clinique’s Makeup Brush Cleanser. You just have to pump one spray on each side of the brush, gently tissue off the residue and let it air dry for 2 min before using it. What I do is clean it after every use to make sure they are ready to go the next day.

Lava tus brochas.

¡Yo no!
