Now that you know my whole wedding dress story…and you saw how cool the groom and groomsmen looked…it's time to talk about HAIR!!

Hairstyles can either make or break a look; it doesn't matter if a bride is wearing the most gorgeous dress, if the hair doesn't complement it…there's a recipe for disaster. As you know, I had ombré hair until October of last year. The first step to achieve my desired wedding hair was texting Marco, my favorite TREsemmé stylist, to make an appointment and go back to my natural hair.

TIP #1: go for a timeless color. You are going to be looking at these pictures for the rest of your life; and the best option is go back to your natural hair color. Also, make your hair appointment at least two weeks before the big day- that way if you are not completely happy with the color, you have time to go and fix it.

Marco took me back to my natural brown hair (no crazy ombré that would make me look like I have brown hair and a blonde bun). He also added some natural highlights to give my hair a little bit of dimension. On our hair trial I also showed him pictures of what I liked, how my dressed was, the type of veil I was gonna wear, etc.

TIP #2:  you must trust 100% the person  that's doing your hair and makeup. Always go for a hair trial and do not leave that place until you are fully happy with your hairstyle. Take pictures of the final result to make sure that's exactly the hair you are getting on your wedding day. I've known Marco for years now, I admire his work so much and I was so excited he was able to be part of this important day.

Below are the pictures of the hairstyles I showed him.
______

Break mode….

I've been a little missing in action…this is my last semester of grad school (extremely excited about that but there's so much to do). I was supposed to take the last semester off because of the wedding, but instead I only took one class (instead of the 2 I was supposed to). The problem: now I'm taking the thesis class (which is the last one and should be taken alone) with the class I was missing. So I have been a little uninspired to post and of course, a little stressed out. But I promise that after graduation, tons of things will change for better over here!

_____

WEDDING SERIES: The groom + Groomsmen

When it came to choosing the outfits for the groomsmen and groom, I was like "Gabe, you are doing this!" I made him do his research on Pinterest and asked him to save all the pictures he liked. We knew that we wanted it to look like an elegant wedding; no typical beach wedding attire. The best option was a gray suit, which perfectly matched the purple coloring of the bridesmaid dresses and flowers. Gabe was super worried about getting too hot in a suit- I think he would start sweating just by thinking about it. Thankfully we got the perfect day in Punta Cana…it wasn't even hot!

______

WEDDING SERIES: my dress...

I have already shared tons of pictures of the wedding, especially on Instagram but I want to tell you about my experience, how did it all go, and give you some tips in the process.

I'm starting the series with the "DRESS"- no matter if you love fashion or not…the wedding dress is one of those things we start dreaming about when we are about 5…

When I was little I wanted a strapless mermaid dress… when I got engaged, something changed. I didn't want any cup-cakey dress or anything that reminded me of a quinceañera dress. Early in the process, we knew we wanted to get married on the beach…so I knew I wanted (1) a flowy, not heavy dress, (2) some type of back detail or a bare back, and (3) I realized I was more drawn to embellished dresses than lace dresses.

__________

I basically just posted a remix on how to wear a similar plaid shirt-dress…but knowing the versatility of the piece, I couldn't control me and I got another one in red plaid and in a lighter fabric. The light fabric is better for the Miami weather; also it's a little sheer so you are going to see me with slip dress underneath whenever I wear it as a dress. I wore this last Saturday; a couple of friends came to our place to hang out before heading out to a Puerto Rican festival . Hope you like the look! XOXO

Chinchorreando...

"Chinchorrear" is a verb Puerto Ricans used to talk about going to small restaurants to drink, eat and have fun…which is funny because "Chinchorro" as a noun is a type of hammock. Spanish is a tricky language; each country has its own words and expressions. Gaby  is from PR and I'm from Venezuela..so over 8 years, we have been trying to fully understand each other (sometimes we even surprise each other like: what the hell is that, you have never said that word before).

For this trip, I ended up wearing a floral short that is part of matchy set (seen hERE). But this time I paired with a blouse with cutouts (recently seen HERE). Of course,I added a Panama hat…which I purchase in Puerto Rico in 2012 (you can also see that day here).

Hope your week started amazingly! I just spent most of my day organizing my apt…I just deeply organized my office space. My goal is to have fully organized the house by the end of the week…let's see how that goes! XOXO

_______

BESOS!

HIS & HER KLOZET: couple workout…with H&M SPORT!

Sunday, January 18, 2015

his and her klozet, featured, h&M, H&M sport, his and hers, nike, gabriel sanchez, activewear, exercise, lifestyle, workout, couple, fashion, outfit

We all know that January is "resolution month"…and I think that we all start with "being healthy and exercise more". I think the best way to keep this resolution is to work out with your significant other, a family member, or a close friend.  Going alone can get monotonous and boring.  No matter who is going with you, talk with her/him and make an agreement to go X times a week and to always keep each other motivated. Many studies prove that people that exercise together are 7 times more likely to maintain an active lifestyle. You won't only keep each other motivated but also you get to bond. Gabe works a lot (most days of the week until 9pm)..so spending time in the morning with him working out is something we are trying to do.

In this post, Gabe and I are wearing the last collection from H&M SPORT (available online and on select stores). I loved the collection…so many fun prints and colors. The quality of the pieces is incredible and the price-point even better.  They have a great variety of pieces according to activity..from running to yoga and outdoor activities. We had so much fun shooting these, I hope you like them! XOXO

____________

¡BESOS!

Eyebrows are the frames of the eyes…actually, of your face. Your eyebrows can help accentuate your eyes and bring out your natural beauty. No matter if I’m just going to the supermarket, I have to fill in my eyebrows a little bit…it really changes your whole makeup look.

Today I’m collaborating with Lancôme to show a step-by-step tutorial on how to do your eyebrows for special occasions:
