Recreating 5 LOOKS from 2011

Saturday, August 1, 2020

I feel this video is for all the amazing girls that have followed me since the lookbook days, it was super fun and at the same time super nostalgic for me to make it.

The idea behind it was to wear looks inspired by my past looks- and making them a bit more 2020! I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with them, it's just how I would wear the same combos NOW!

 LOOK 1

- I switched the classic leopard maxi for a slit one!
- The jean jacket is the exact same one, I bleached it in 2012 and it's still my favorite denim jacket and I still like the lighter wash better.
- Instead of sandals, I wore sneakers...because it felt more 2020 me!

LOOK 2

- For the second look, instead of the asymmetrical dolman sleeves that were very IN in 2011, I wore a shoulder padded tank top that are very on trend right now.
- I still added the chain necklace (which it's definitely back in fashion).
- For the shorts, I'll admit I love the high waisted ones from 2011 a bit better! And I swapped my favorite boots in 2011 for my favorite boots in 2020!!

LOOK 3

This look originally was inspired by Victoria Beckham.
- The 2020 pants look more like the ones Victoria was wearing, just high waisted !
- For the gray top, the 2020 is a bit more dressy to go with the vibe of the look.
- I could have added an oversized blazer but I still have the same one...so why not!?
- The nude pumps are pointed instead of round- which are definitely more elegant!

LOOK 4

I wore this to my first Taylor Swift concert- yeap, I'm a fan!
- First I updated the shorts to high waisted denim shorts.
- A moto jacket instead of a leather bomber.
- Since I was wearing a jacket, I thought it made more sense to wear booties than high heeled sandals.
- And well, I added a hat...because it's more me!

LOOK 5

- I still think a trench is timeless, but that style isn't that timeless. I don't own a classic trench coat, and I think a camel coat is even more versatile.
- I ended up making the whole look more winter because of the leather pants and coat, with a black turtle-neck and leopard booties instead of pumps!

I was 21 years old then , and it's crazy to look back! Thank you SO SO MUCH for being part of this fun adventure! I'm super grateful for all the love and support for so many years!

Let me know if you liked thissss!

TRESthrowback: 1980s modern curls with TRESemmé

Thursday, December 12, 2013

This post is sponsored by TRESemmé, a product by Unilever. All opinions are my own.

Hey everyone! Like I mentioned before, I’m in Venezuela with my family for the holidays. The other day, my mom and I were looking at old family albums. My mom originally had straight hair so she used to do crazy perms during the 80s and early 90s. As part of my “Throwback Thursday” series with TRESemmé, I decided to give the hairstyle a try and create a modern version of the 1980s curl look.

This hairstyle is all about volume and texture; and it’s extremely easy to recreate… plus it’s great to change it up for the holiday season!

 WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- A curling iron or wand (avoid wide wands; you want to create tight curls)
- A hairbrush
-TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray
-TRESemmé Flawless Curls Locking Styling Spray
- TRESemmé Smooth and Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Creme

 TUTORIAL:
1. Wash your hair the night before and let it dry naturally. Don’t straighten it, we want the curl to hold as much as possible. If you have to wash it that day, use a blow drier just to but don't straighten it.

 2. Apply the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray. I always mention the importance of heat protection but a lot of people still forget this important step. Using a heat protectant creates a shield to protect hair from the damaging effects of heat. Spread the product evenly throughout your hair.

3. Divide your hair through the middle or to the side; a deep side gives it more of a ‘80s vibe.

 4. Start curling from the bottom part of your hair first. Use small sections of hair to give it a dramatic look. Alternate the direction of the curls; some should be curled inward and others away from your face. Hold the curling iron for approximately 10 seconds. Let them fall and don’t break them.

 5. Apply your favorite hairspray after you are finished (Recommendation: use TRESemmé Flawless Curls Locking Styling Spray. It will help hold the curl while still looking soft and natural)

 6. After spritzing on hairspray, wait around 15 minutes before breaking the curls with your fingers. Since they were all curled in different directions, the curls should look very natural.

 7. Finally, apply the “TRESemmé Smooth and Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème” to moisturize your hair and avoid any frizz without weighing your hair down.

**Extra tip: if you want a little more volume: use a teasing comb or any small hairbrush and comb your hair upwards**

I hope you enjoyed this extremely step-by-step tutorial- everyone looks amazing with big voluminous curls. For more hairstyles and behind-the-scenes access to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, check out TRESemmé’s YouTube Channel.

_____

¡Hola a todas!

TUTORIAL PASO A PASO:
