Every year I sit down and I write my New Year's Resolutions. Besides including the basics (eating better and exercising more), I always add trying new fashion and beauty trends. As I like to say, fashion is supposed to be fun...it's not about following trends but having fun with those you like. Think of the new year as a chance for a NEW YOU. Dare to be different, dare to express who you are through clothes, and dare to go after your dreams while looking extra stylish.
Today I'm going to talk about 8 fashion trends that you should give it a try in 2016. I made sure that all the items in the "shop the look" section were under $150 (trying to keep it as affordable as possible!). Let me know which one is your favorite (or if I missed your favorite) and how would you wear it!
Todos los años me siento a escribir mis propósitos de año nuevo. Aparte de escribir las resoluciones clásicas de comer mejor y hacer más ejercicio, siempre escribo algunas tendencias de moda y belleza que me gustaría probar. Siempre les digo que la moda no es algo superficial, es una manera de expresar quien eres.. y que mejor momento que reinventarte que este nuevo año. Atrévete a ser diferente, a probar tendencias fuera de tu zona de confort , y atrévete a ir detrás de tu sueños (mientras te ves fabulosa).
Hoy les voy a hablar de 8 de mis tendencias favoritas que considero que deben probar en el 2016...estas tendencias fueron de las más vistas en las pasarelas de muchos diseñadores. También añadí debajo de cada tendencia diferentes opciones- intenté que todas costarán menos de $150. Cuéntenme que tendencia es tu favorita, o si hay alguna que debí haber incluido... y como la usarías. ¡Besos!
At first, I wasn't sure about coming to New York Fashion Week …mainly because of the weather. This Caribbean girl is not used to freezing temperatures. However, I got the fun opportunity to work with Sperry and Chictopia during this fashionable week. They invited me to attend Rubin and Chapel's show at the Standard Hotel….the view was breathtaking (plus the models were against the view…creating the perfect backdrop). The place was packing with photographers and celebrities (even the Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, Morgan Steward, was one of the models). When the models were getting ready, they were hanging out in Sperry shoes- I joined them by wearing a the gold metallic pair, it has a modern twist on the classic boat shoe. It was also so much fun seen Sperry shoes on the runway; they really gave the looks some everyday comfort and versatility.
As far as the outfit for the show, I wore my new favorite black ankle booties from Sperry you girls are going to see them so often on the blog. They have a quilted and suede detail on the back of the shoe and they are leather on the front …PLUS they are extremely comfy! I was dying to wear this plaid coat so I just paired it with some gray jea
ns and a black scarf!

Para mi look…primero que nada, escogí estas botitas negras de Sperry- que de una me disculpo porque van a salir a cada rato en el blog. Tienen un detalle estilo "alcohado"en gamuza en la parte de atrás y cuero por delante….aparte son comodísimos. Con este frío estaba muy emocionada de usar esta chaqueta de tartán roja combinada con unos jeans grises y una bufanda negra.

When I was doing the video tutorial with TEMPTU, I was inspired by the makeup of DKNY's runway (where models where sporting orange lips and velvety skin...you can check out my tutorial here too). Then, I started looking at photos of the collection and ended up wanting to recreate some of the looks.. transforming it from the runway to the real way. Again, inspiration is everywhere, the most important is to adapt it and make it your own.

Cuando estaba haciendo el video con TEMPTU, me inspiré en el maquillaje de la pasarela de DKNY (en donde las modelos llevaban una piel de seda y labios naranja, recuerden que pueden ver mi tutorial acá). Pero luego me puse a ver en detalle las fotos de la colección y quise recrear uno de los looks. Como les digo siempre, la inspiración está en todos lados, lo importante es adaptarla a nuestra personalidad y estilo de vido.

As I've mentioned before... all Sundays are going to be about BEAUTY!! Some of you might know but I am a "certified makeup artist" and I'm a beauty junkie. I love trying out new beauty products and I want to share my opinion about them. So let's start with 4 beauty trends for this Spring/Summer 2012.
(1) At home ombré: ombré has been around a couple of seasons but I really want to try this trend, very subtle of course. It used to be considered very complicated but L'Oréal just came out with a home kit and a special hair brush that makes it very easy to do. I'm going to try it in two weeks ...but don't worry, I'll record the whole process so you can see how it works.
(2) Velvet skin and vibrant lips: people always say that if you are wearing a bright lip color, you should keep the rest simple. And this trend is the epiphany of the rule: it must look like you aren't wearing any makeup beside the lipstick. For this I really recommend L'Oreal Miracle Blur, I've been using it for a couple of weeks and I love it. It makes pores look smaller, it smoothes skin, and it has SPF30. After that, just add foundation and your favorite lip color.
(3) Nude nails: after so much nail art and vibrant colors, our nails deserve a little break with natural-looking nailpolishes. They are easy to maintain, these L'Oreal nailpolishes last 10 days, and the best part..they go with anything in your wardrobe.
(3) Cat eye eyeliner: more than a trend this has become a classic... and the best part is that you can personalize it and make it as dramatic or classic as you want. This is another of the L'Oreal products I completely love and recommend, "The Infallible Super Slim eyeliner". The tip is very precise (just 0.4mm), it lasts 12 hrs, and it's very easy to apply.

Como les mencioné... ¡¡ahora todos los domingos serán dedicados a la parte de belleza!! No se si algunas saben pero hace dos años hice un curso de maquillaje por 3 meses, y tengo un certificado de "maquilladora profesional. Siempre me ha gustado intentar nuevos productos y me gustaría compartir un poquito más mis experiencias. Empiezo esta sección con cuatro tendencias de maquillaje para esta Primavera/Verano 2013.
(1) Ombré en tu casa: desde hace varias temporadas hemos visto el cabello ombré o degradado en todos lados (también conocido como mechas californianas). Y aunque suele ser considera un proceso complicado, L'Oréal acaba de sacar un kit casera con un cepillo super fácil de usar. Yo finalmente me voy a animar a probar esta tendencia en unas semanas...no se preocupen, compartiré todo en video y paso a paso para mostrarles como lo pueden hacer ustedes también.
(2) Piel perfecta y labios llamativos: siempre dicen que si llevas los labios llamativos, el resto del maquillaje debe ser lo más sencillo posible. Y esta temporada, esta regla es mas fuerte todavía... es como si no tuvieras maquillaje en el resto de la cara. Para esto te recomiendo L'Oreal Miracle Blur: es un primer excelente (lo llevo usando varias semanas), hace que la piel te quede extremadamente sedosa- aparte de dejarte la piel sedora, reduce el tamaño de los poros y tiene protector solar. Luego puedes usar tu color favorito en los labios (algunas opciones acá).
(3) Uñas al desnudo: después de tanto "nail-art" y colores llamativos, esta temporada puedes darle un descanso a tus uñas y usar colores que parezca que no llevas nada puesto. Son fáciles de mantener, estas de L'Oreal duran 10 días... y lo mejor de todo: ¡combinan con toda tu ropa!
(4) Ojos de gato: esto más que una tendencia se ha convertido en un clásico.. y tu decides que tan dramático quieres que sea el look. Otro de los productos de L'Oreal que probé fue el delineador "Infallible Super Slim"- y me fascina. La punta es extremadamente precisa (0,4mm), dura 12 horas, y es muy fácil de aplicar.

This week is MB Fashion Swim, and what better way to start it that with a fashion show/ party at this chic place called SohoBeachHouse. My started at school and then I headed to Tatiana's place to get ready with Steffy. We went to Ready, Set, Swim first and then to CosmoSplash. It was amazing, we had lots of fun and I loved seeing so many Miami bloggers at the event. The runway was in the middle of the pool, and there were a lot of gorgeous swimsuits. I also want to thank Pantene and Covergirl for the invitation! Hope you liked this look! XOXO

Ayer empezó oficialmente la Semana de la Moda en Miami (Swim Week) y que mejor forma de comenzar que con una fiesta/desfile en un sitio muy de moda en Miami llamado SohoBeachHouse. Mi día empezó en la universidad, y de ahí seguí a casa de Tatiana junto a Steffy para arreglarnos e ir a CosmoSplash y a un evento llamado Ready,Set, Swim. Estuvo super chevere, no tienen idea lo lleno que estaba el sitio- lo mejor de todo es que habían muchísimas blogueras. La pasé extremadamente bien con Tati y Steffy, son las mejores! La pasarela era en el medio de la piscina y nos consintieron con cocktails y pasapalos. ¡También le tengo que dar las gracias a Pantene y a Covergirl por la invitación! Espero que les haya gustado este look!
