Giving Back This Holiday Season with AmazonSmile Charity Lists

Wednesday, November 11, 2020

This post is sponsored by Amazon. All opinions are my own.

2020 hasn’t been the year we all imagined it would be. It has taught us the importance of enjoying the little things in life and giving back to our community and those who need it most.

I love how AmazonSmile Charity Lists make it so easy to give back.

At smile.amazon.com/charitylists, you can find an organization to give back to by browsing by cause (from Pets & Animals, Environment, and Health…to Veterans and Arts and Culture) or simply searching for your favorite organizations. I already knew I wanted to donate to an animal organization, so I added the keyword “Miami” in the search bar, and AmazonSmile gave me a list of animal organizations IN Miami.

I was super excited to see that “Jamie’s Rescue” was on the list - that’s the rescue where we adopted Susy from in January. This organization was founded by Jamie Robinson, a past photographer for the White House in the 70s, who nurtures puppies and dogs back to health and puts them up for adoption.

To adopt Susy, we were interviewed by Jamie a few times - we visited the rescue twice and we were in complete awe by seeing all the dogs run freely around the house and backyard. It’s like she lives with the dogs, and not the other way around. You can tell it is a labor of love.

Once you select an AmazonSmile Charity List, you can view their full wish list – and in Jamie’s Rescue’s case, it mostly includes pet supplies and cleaning products. You can then purchase items to donate and have them directly delivered to the organization’s designated address.

I am very excited to give back to the place that gave us our precious little Susy.

In addition to charity lists, you can also support your favorite charitable organization at no extra cost to you just by shopping through AmazonSmile. Visit smile.amazon.com/holiday and browse Amazon’s wide selection of holiday deals and low price items, receive fast and free delivery options, and more. The best part is, when you start your shopping at smile.amazon.com, Amazon will automatically donate a portion of the purchase price of eligible products to a charity of your choice.

And it gets even earier than that! If you are in the giving spirit and wish to make a monetary donation, you can simply say “Alexa, I want to make a donation” to any Alexa enabled device to get started.

Let’s make the holidays a bit more wonderful for those who need it most! Click here if you are ready to give back and browse AmazonSmile Charity Lists – and share how you’re giving back this season with #DeliveringSmiles.

Getting in the Holiday Spirit with shopDisney

Monday, November 9, 2020

This post is sponsored by ShopStyle and shopDisney. All opinions are my own.

Last year Nico was still too little to understand the Holiday Season. So this year I’m going all out, especially with the 2020 we’ve all had…we deserve to welcome the most wonderful time of the year a little earlier.

Last week, I checked ShopDisney and, as we have a two year old who is completely obsessed with Mickey Mouse,  I got a few pieces that I knew he was going to love.

The first thing I added to the cart was these matching Mickey Mouse sweaters. The one I am wearing is actually men’s, but I really like the oversized fit and that I can wear it as a sweater dress + I absolutely love matching with Nico.

This is also our first Holiday with Susy, we rescued her in January so I also wanted to get her a little something-something. This top with gingerbread cookies was perfect and she looks so cute!

As I brought out our box with ornaments, as this is the first time I get a big tree…I think it’s time to get some new ornaments. These are some of my favorites:

Finally I had to get these plush Mickey and Minnie- I’m giving the Minnie to my niece, Mila, who is turning one this month.  I can’t wait to see them together playing with them…aww my heart!

Did you already decorate your home? What are you most excited about this Holiday season?

ARE WE READY FOR BABY NUMBER TWO?

Thursday, May 14, 2020

Every time I do any type of Q&A, I always see some form of these questions:
Do you want more kids?
How many kids do you want?
When are you having baby #2?

And I truly know that most of the time, it comes out of pure curiosity. But if there is something I learned when I went through my miscarriage is that you never know what is happening closed doors in relationships. Maybe just the dad wants more kids, maybe they are trying unsuccessfully, maybe they are going through IVF, maybe they just lost a baby, or maybe just don't want more kids and don't want to explain it to you.

But I want to open up with you and tell you how I feel (just me, I'm not talking about Gabe, this is just me). Also, if you disagree or your plans are different, that is okay too- this is our reality and every couple is very different!

To give you a little background, I have two older brothers. They are very close in age (around 11 months), and they are 10-11 years older than me.  I loved having older brothers, I admired them in every sense... from music to fashion. I just wanted to be like them.  And at the same time I was a little jealous that they had each other, I would have loved to have some sort of companion.

Reason why, teenage Daniela would always say that her future kids would be super close in age.  And sure, that seems perfect until:
1. I realized pregnancy (and specially the delivery) took a toll on my body and I needed to HEAL- inside and out. I know many couples do back to back babies, but I've heard the second pregnancy can  even be a high risk pregnancy.
2. I realized we needed to move again.
3.  I realized I would need extra help with a second one. Again, amazing if you have help around the house or a nanny, for real that's amazing! We both work from home and we absolutely love doing it all.

So to finally answer the question, we are (or I am) ALMOST there. Nico turns two this Sunday, so my body has definitely healed. We just want Nico to be a little more independent- he still relies on me for SO SO many things.  I'd love for him to be potty trained, going to school, and understanding what would be happening better.

At the same time, I'm not going to lie...I feel the pressure. I think every single friend or acquaintance that was pregnant around the same time I was, is already pregnant or already had their second baby. So I start second-guessing myself... am I waiting too long? Are we doing something wrong? Should we just "get it over with"? (as people say).

Then I come to my senses and remind myself that having a baby is not something to get over with. I'm enjoying every single phase of Nico and I know I'm gonna enjoy the next one if the moment comes.

If you are in a similar situation just remind yourself that:
Everyone has their journey. Don't compare your journey to anybody's.
You two, as a couple, know when is the right time, and even if there is a right time.
You don't owe explanations to anybody.

That's it! Sorry for the monologue! XOXO

10 THINGS ABOUT...QUARANTINE LIFE

Wednesday, May 6, 2020

I'm not just even going to make excuses for myself. I'm just going to star blogging again because I absolutely love writing and I just have to get my groove back (and make time for it).

So I'm going to start with 10 THINGS ABOUT OUR QUARANTINE LIFE SO FAR:

1) Every day I remind myself that I am not stuck or trapped at home- that we are SAFE at home.
We are so lucky to have a safe roof over our heads, food on our table...and so lucky to be healthy.

2) Work-wise it has been hard. Many of my campaigns were cancelled- and most of my husband's clients are hotels (aka everything was cancelled too). But again, we are trying to stay as positive as possible- adapting, evolving and finding ways to stay busy and creative.

3) Talking about being creative, we have been doing tons of photoshoots at home (you can see them on my Instagram @nany). I'll share more of them slowly. We try to take advantage of Nico's nap time and shoot videos/photos. It keeps us sane and we just have fun with it.

4) Nico was supposed to start preschool in April. We were so excited for him, we wanted him to interact with other kids and see him learn new things. So for now we are just taking one day at a time with him. I'm not stressing out with tons of educational activities, we have fun- we dance, we play, we watch movies (yes, average mom right here!). I know it is hard for him too, we used to go to the park several days a week and have playdates. I can tell he misses all of it.

5) I started doing a video series called #NANYSREMIXVIDEO. I have picked 10 wardrobe essentials and I do 10 looks with each of them. I really try for them to be truly different. When I'm styling, I try to think of different personalities and lifestyles. For example, I try to include a business look even though I don't work at an office. I'll start sharing those here too, with more details and tips!

6) I think what I miss the most is working out with my friends. My close friends and I were doing Classpass and we had so much fun going to different classes every day.  Right now I'm trying to stay active by working out in my balcony. Thankfully it is big enough for a yoga mat and some dumbbells I have. So I've been doing the SWEAT app. I love the format and the app and I've stayed *kinda* on track.

7) When the quarantine started, it was my husband's birthday (March 24th). At the moment I thought "no way we will still be in quarantine by Nico's birthday (May 17th)". Either way I ordered some stuff and I thought that no matter if it was only us, we were going to celebrate it. I know he won't remember anything but it's for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE birthdays and I want him to love them too.

8) I opened a TIKTOK account (@Nanysklozet there too). I'm still figuring out my niche and my voice there. It's such a fun app but it's hard to just talk about one thing. I love fashion, and I'm a mom. I like fitness. I like makeup. I like home decor. And even though I promised I wouldn't dance there, I used to be a dancer and it is a bit fun!

9) Let me know what you have been watching on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc etc. The last thing I watched was "Never Have I ever", it was very cute. I recommend it.  I've also watched random things like "Too Hot Too Handle"- and meh, it was entertaining- don't judge!

10) We have DANCE PARTIES every day. Nico absolutely loves dancing and he makes everyone dance. Literally if you are sitting down, he will grab you by the hand and make you dance.  He has such a fun personality and LOVES being the center of attention.

With this little summary, let's get this started!!!!
