Must-Have Boots for a Winter Getaway

I absolutely love wearing boots…but let’s say that living in Miami, we (Nico and I) didn’t have the right boots for our winter getaway to North Carolina.

The weather during mid-December in North Carolina can be a little unpredictable- we weren’t sure if we were going to get snow BUT we knew there were a few waterfalls around the area and we were excited to go see them.

So I headed to DSW, our family go-to for all things shoes and THE boot destination with all the styles you might need for any occasion. I had two pairs in mind: rain boots and snow boots.

RAIN BOOTS

In our bucket-list, we had many waterfalls to visit around the area so I knew it was a must for Nico and me to get rain boots. And I honestly have been eyeing these Hunter boots for a while, especially for those crazy storms in Miami (we have them more than frequently).

But I am IN LOVE with Nico’s boots, they are super easy to put on and off (and as he is getting more independent, he loves that). He was very excited when he saw the space print and EVEN more excited when he realized they light up. They also comes in a super cute dinosaur print.

SNOW BOOTS

We really wanted to see snow BUT we weren’t as lucky. However, another thing in our bucket list was to go tubbing in a close-by area, so we got to wear our snow boots even if just for a little bit.

Mine are SOREL and I know they are a classic and will last me many seasons to come.

Nico’s are Columbia and he has been wearing them a lot, especially during the colder days of our getaway.

I ordered our boots online and picked the curbside option, but the store layouts have also been redesigned to support social distancing. You can also sign up to be a DSW VIP and get free shipping on any order! You can also get $10 OFF Express Shipping using the code ISHIPIT (from December 15th to December 18th) to get any last-minute Holiday shopping on time!

REMIX: 35 looks with OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

You can call me "attached"; but when you find a great piece, you should hold on to it.
It's like that saying "why fix it if it's not broken".

I got these boots who knows how long ago, probably in 2014. They are from Guess, I tell you because that's the number one question; but as you can imagine, they don't sell them anymore. At the end of this post, you can see similar versions at different price points.

There are many things that make these boots great:
- They have a chunky heel so it's not the typical sexy over the knee boot.
- They are very narrow, so they don't fall off my knees.
- Well, as you can see, they go with EVERYTHING.

I did a remix with them in 2016, it included 12 looks. But I haven't stopped wearing them, they especially make their appearance in the colder months.

BROOKLYN BRIDGE /// WINTER FASHION

Sunday, January 8, 2017

If there is one place to really admire New York's beautiful skyline is from the Brooklyn Bridge. It's a must stop for any tourist- we were there a year before during the summer time and also in 2013.
XOXO

BESOS!

Iceskating at the Rockefeller Center /// WINTER FASHION

Friday, December 23, 2016

I don't remember the last time I ice-skated - My mom says it was in 2005 and before that 1996...so let's say, it is tradition to do it every approximately 10 years. I had so SO SO SO much fun. When we were doing the line (which was long, but I guess it could have been worse), I saw so many people falling and falling. It probably had to do that the ice wasn't flat. But I was definitely scared, I didn't want to end with a broken arm...and I can be a little clumsy. But my body is more agile than I give it credit. I did gymnastics for 10 years, and I was feeling like a pro within minutes (at least I was going faster than 80% of the people).

The Pink Coat

Saturday, January 30, 2016

Sooo... I've had this pink trench in my closet for more than a year. I got it last year before New York Fashion Week. However, It wasn't warm enough for NYC in February...and we didn't get an actual winter last year in Miami. The past couple of weeks, we have gotten some cold days in Miami. So if it was the perfect time to finally wear my pink trench. I went for a minimalist combo with grey jeans and a beige sweater.

I hope we can wear it again with regular blue jeans or with a grey sweater dress.

How would you wear a pink coat?

Chi-Town... Day 4: Snowing

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

And Chicago said Good-Bye to us with a gorgeous snow fall.  This was just right before heading to the airport, but we had to stop (right in front of the hotel) and take pictures. I didn't see snow until I was 15...and every time I see it, it's just so magical.

The only downside to these pictures was that, since we were about to leave, I wasn't wearing any thermal underwear or tons of layers. I don't think you can tell how cold I was from these pics haha.

Hope you like them! XOXO

¡ABRAZOS!

Chi Town...Day #1

Friday, January 22, 2016

Oh Chicago! Chicago!
It wasn't the first time I've been in Chicago. I went twice in 2011- one for a marathon with Nike and then for a hispanic conference called Latism. Check out those posts, I look like a baby (and let's not even talk about what I was wearing). However, this time I went with Gabe and we love exploring the city.

We really loved it, it looked so beautiful with snow everywhere...and the lake was frozen!

We got there on Monday, we checked in, showered, and headed straight to have lunch. A couple of people recommended Giordanos where they are known for their Chicago-style pizzas. Honestly it was a good and bad decision. It was delicious but it was so big!! We didn't expect it! After that we headed to the Skydeck to see the city from the #103. I was going to add those pics on this post but they need their own posts (so stay tuned for that tomorrow).

About what I'm wearing, I realized I don't really own a lot of winter clothes (hey, I live in Miami, why would I). Everything I took to this 4 day trip was the same I wore in NYFW last year. The coat is from Desigual but it is obviously sold out (I linked to similar options below). I also realized that even though I love small bags, they are not for the winter. So this Coach swagger bag was perfect for this trip, that way I can add the gloves and everything inside (tell me I'm not the only one who does this!).

Have amazing weekend!

¡Chicago! ¡Chicago!!

Camel Coat & Sneakers

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Looking back at my latest posts...all I want to wear is basic and timeless pieces.

When it comes to coats (piece that I don't get to wear that often because of Miami's never ending summer). But I really recommend investing in a camel coat...they really are timeless and work with every style.

The last time I wore it was last year, with a big midi skirt and a stripped shirt...very Parisian.  However, this time I went for a casual and chill all-black look with sneakers. See it is so versatile!

I really hope the 2016 Miami Winter lasts more than the usual so I can wear it again and be able to remix it before 2017! Now that I'm visiting Chicago for a couple of days, I can see that this coat specifically would only work in Miami (it is very light!)...in real winters, I would get pneumonia!

Hope you are having a great (and warm) week!!

AG JEANS moto jacket -- DAILYLOOK plaid blanket scarf -- FOREVER 21 white sweater
H&M burgundy coated jeans (similar, just $17) -- H&M wide brim hat
  SPERRY quilted black booties

I have to admit that I changed several times a day while in New York; I rarely post winter outfits and I had to take advantage of every second…and I loved getting bundled up! This look is full of versatile "must-haves". I got these jeans at H&M almost 3 years ago, I can't believe I wasn't sure  about buying them. I have worn them SO MUCH over the years- note to self: double check because I think I should update its respective remix. I also love this moto jacket, the price point is a little higher. However, it is a classic piece; and investing in good quality items that we are going to war a lot is definitely okay. I took this blanket scarf to wear with one look; it was so warm and cozy that I ended up wearing it over and over. Being in New York during the coldest days they've had in 20 years made me realize how lucky we are in Miami. That's it for today… I'm out to continue working on my thesis! XOXO

___________

BESOS.

NYFW diary: Low messy pony with TRESemmé

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Like I told you, for this New York Fashion Week, I was so happy and grateful to partner again with the amazing team at TRESemmé, the official hair care sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. On the third day of NYFW, I visited the TRESemmé Salon at Lincoln Center again. I asked Yojanse for a perfectly (un)Done effortless ponytail. Later that day we saw a very similar hairstyle at the Banana Republic presentation. This hairstyle is the perfect mix of put-together and carefree-  which works great with a dressy outfit but it also can add a little bit of glam when wearing a casual look.

To recreate this hairstyle:
-        Prep by applying TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Foam evenly through the hair to create natural looking waves.
-        Wrap sections of hair around a heated curling iron- make sure to twirl away from your face.
-        Gather hair at the nape of the neck and tie with an elastic.
-        Take a section of hair and wrap it around the ponytail to hide the elastic.
-        Pull a few pieces of hair to frame the face.
-        Finish the look with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray to add a little bit of shine to the ponytail.

For my outfit: I wore this gorgeous Desigual coat (which I wore a couple of times because of how warm it was!); I paired it with some black leggings and black booties. We headed to Central Park to see how pretty it looks with snow and took advantage of the scenery to take pictures!

Hope you liked the look as much as I did! Check out more of the amazing hairstyles TRESemmé did on Instagram with the hashtag #TRESmbfw.  For more hair inspiration and how-to's, visit YouTube.com/TRESemme

________

¡BESOS!
