If you ask me for a timeless print, I’d probably say STRIPES! So how can we make them fun for Spring 2019!? For the second part of this campaign with Walmart and ShopStyle that encourages you to show your unique style from corner to corner of the country, let’s talk about how to update your favorite print without hurting your wallet. Plus, I love how Walmart has a great selection of fashionable pieces for your personal style.

Last year I graduated from my Master’s Degree in Design and Media Management….this is my official first year out of “school” since…well, pre-school.  However, one of the most requested questions I get all the time is about “what to wear to school”…and I get all sentimental thinking about what “back-to-school” felt like, a year to start from scratch.

I really encourage you to start the School-Year with with a huge boost of confidence, and a designer smile. Reason why I want to talk about a few essentials that will get your ready, it might be a colorful backpack or a fun hairstyle…dare to try something new and just have fun while feeling like a new YOU.

1. A new backpack:

I absolutely love a fun colorful backpack. Get one that reflects your personality; one with polka-dots if you are retro…maybe a tribal backpack if you love color…or a clear one if you are edgy.  Make sure they are comfortable enough to fit your books and/or your computer/ipad.

2. Notebooks with a personality

I remember when I was little, I would sit with my mom a week before school to personalize all my notebooks and books. Nowadays there are so many cute notebooks to choose from and at great prices. Again, look for ones that fit your personality…or buy basic ones and start DIY-ing them! You can even plan a date with your friends and spend the whole afternoon having a blast customizing them.

3. Fun-Phone Cases
I know you shouldn’t be on your phone during class, BUT this is the perfect excuse to get a new case that matches the vibe of all your new supplies. I’m in my 20s and my iPhone case is a Shell-phone.

4. Time for an Eye Exam and New Glasses

You should get your eyes checked once a year. When I was in 10th grade I realized I couldn’t see the blackboard as good as I should. Now I go every year to update my recipe and get a new pair of cute glasses. My favorite shape are oversized or cat-eye…what about yours?

5. A big designer smile.

Your best accessory is your smile…the more you smile, the more confident you will feel (there are scientific studies on this, it’s true!). If you want to start the school year with a whiter, brighter smile, I recommend you using Colgate Optic White High Impact White.

6. Update your  school makeup-bag

We often forget that makeup expires and back-to-school is the perfect time to throw away that old lipstick...and of course, buy a new color. I’m not saying you should wear a lot of make up to school, save that for a romantic date during the weekend.  Your makeup bag should have bb cream, mascara, concealer, blush, and a tinted lip-balm.

7. Water bootle

Water bottles should be switched yearly (thanks new school year for the reminder) and it will help you stay hydrated throughout the day without having to go to the water fountains in-between classes.

8. New Hairstyles

My school was very strict when it came to makeup- they would make us wipe it off. They even had nail polish remover in case you had anything that wasn’t neutral. If your school is as mine…dare to play with hairstyles. Dare yourself to even wear a different hairstyle every day of the week.

Example:

Monday: fishtail braid

Tuesday: side dutch braid.

Wednesday: sleek ponytail

Thursday:   Crown braid

Friday: Soft waves.

9. Emergency kit:

Get a small makeup pouch and get ready with some basics that might save your life or a friends. Include: tampons and panty liners, deodorant, hair ties and bobby pins, nail file, sewing kit, anti-bacterial, and a hair brush. My recommendation is to get these in travel sizes so they fit the small pouch.

10. Killer jeans:

Jeans are the most versatile item for the school year. Get a new pair that makes you feel amazing that will work with many tops in your closet.

The weekend of March 19th, I was in Dallas for...BEAUTYCON!!

I attended as part of my year ambassadorship with Colgate Optic White- where I'll also be creating content for Walmart, so stay tuned!

Let me tell you a little bit first about BeautyCon- it is a conference for the 2.0 beauty world, you can find some of the most popular Youtubers, Viners, Instagramers, etc. The best part is that they also have panels and the followers/fans have the chance to meet them in cute meet-and-greets. Also,  the sponsor brands have their own booths where the audience can experience the new products. I spent most of my time at the Optic White booth and I completely recommend the new toothpaste called High Impact.

At the Optic White booth, you could also get your makeup retouched and then take pics at the cool red carpet they had there. But my first part was the blackboard with chalk where you could write what a smile that turns heads means to you. For me, it means confidence...confidence in your look, in who you are, in what you do! let me know what it means for you! All those words written on that board where so inspiring.

We also shot a couple of videos for internal usage and we spent some fun time saying hi to sweet girls that stopped by!

After that we headed to lunch inside the venue, I was starving and then I sat to hear the last two panels. It's so inspiring to see how everyone in this industry works so hard and it's not just about pretty makeup or a cute look.

El fin de semana del 19 de marzo estuve en Dallas y fue para...BEAUTYCON!!

Asistí como parte de mi trabajo como embajadora de Colgate Optic White- donde también voy a estar creando contenido para Walmart...así que estén pendientes.

Primero les cuento que es BeautyCon- es una conferencia para el mundo de belleza 2.0 donde encuentran  Youtubers, Viners, e Instagramars super populares...y sus seguidores pueden ir a conocerlos!! Diferentes marcas tienen sus puestos donde la audiencia puede probar los productos. Yo les recomiendo probar la nueva crema dental de Optic White llamada High Impact.

Yo estuve en el booth de Colgate, ahí estaban retocando el maquillaje, y te podías tomar una foto en la alfombra roja. También tenían una pizarra donde podías escribir lo que significaba para ti una sonrisa que atrae miradas....para mi significa confianza en ti misma. ¿Qué significa para ti?


También estuvimos grabando un par de videos para uso interno y compartiendo con las seguidoras que pasaran a saludar.

Después fui a comer, me senté a ver varias de las charlas. De verdad que inspira muchísimo ver como todos en esta industria trabajamos muy duro, y se trata de mucho más que un maquillaje bonito o una ropa bonita.

Hey girls! I’m not in school anymore, but “Back To School” is more that actually going back to a classroom…it means trying out a new makeup techniques or products, or playing with a new beauty look.  My go to makeup look is a cat-eye with a dark lipstick…so today’s look is out of my comfort zone with shimmering shadow and natural lip color.

Today I’m partnering  with EcoTools & Burt’s Bees for a fun makeup tutorial that includes some must-have brushes and lip crayons.  Both of these lines are available at Walmart, and the low prices make it more of a “must-have”.

When it comes to makeup brushes, I get a lot of questions on how many you actually need for  the everyday life or if you starting out a makeup kit (if you are a makeup artist…well, that’s another story).  So on this post, I decided to narrow it down to 10 . Last weekend was "Memorial Day Week", which means... long weekend!! Reason why on Sunday we ended up going to the pool with a couple of friends. Before heading out to the pool, Gabo and I went on a little bike ride around (Sadly, his bike got stolen a couple of days after...so upsetting and frustrating). We saw this train tracks, right by the road (no need to worry, they don't use them anymore). It was so hot out that I ended up wearing this two-piece number that looks like a retro bathing suit. I paired it with a turbans and big round sunglasses. Hope your week is starting amazingly! XOXO

El fin de semana pasado fue "Memorial Day Weekend" en Estados Unidos...eso significa: fin de semana largo!! Razón por la cual el domingo vinieron un grupo de amigos a mi casa y estuvimos un rato en la piscina. Antes de ir a la piscina, Gabo y yo nos fuimos a pasear en bicicleta por Downtown.  Le pasamos por el lado a esta vía de tren...no se preocupen que por ahí no pasan trenes- justo termina ahí y es una vía de tren de hace décadas. Ya que estaba haciendo tanto calor, quise usar este conjunto de dos piezas encima de mi traje de baño junto a una cinta en la cabeza y unos lentes redondos grandes.  Espero que su semana empiece genial!
