I've probably said this a thousand times, but my favorite thing about Miami Swim Week is hanging out with my bloggers friends (yes, the shows are amazing BUT it's definitely more fun with friends that also love fashion).

Most (maybe I should say ALL) events and shows  happen in Miami Beach. However, they can be 20 blocks away from each other, and we have to go from one event to another quickly. You know what this means? Hello UBER!! It's convenient, reliable, and safe.

Instead of trying to find parking for hours, or paying too much for valet,  I love how conveniently picks and drops of at the exact location (which is even more important when you are  trying to be fashionable wearing super high heels!)

So today I'm going to take you girls with me, my friends, and Uber to a day full of events during Swim Week!

¡Sé que siempre lo digo...pero supongo que es porque es verdad! Lo mejor de Swim Week es poder ver a todas mis amigas bloggers en la cantidad de eventos y pasarelas (si, las pasarelas son increíbles pero son más divertidas en buena compañía).

La mayoría (mejor dicho ¡TODOS) los eventos son en Miami Beach- que aunque suene cerca pueden estar a 20-30 cuadras de distancia. Son tantos los eventos que corremos y corremos de un lugar a otro. ¿Saben qué significa eso? ¡HOLA UBER! 

En vez de estar buscando estacionamiento por horas, o pagando demasiado por valet, Uber es lo más conveniente- te deja y te recoge en tu locación en cuestión de minutos (lo cual es mega importante cuando estás usando mega taconazos!)

Hoy las voy a llevar conmigo y mis amigas a un día full de eventos durante Swim Week.

I'm not a morning person, especially during the weekends, but I'm definitely up for an early BRUNCH! My husband and I requested an Uber. He joined me for the day (he took all these gorgeous pictures as usual), but he actually joined me because one of his closest photographer friends is dating one of my closest blogger friends (cutest love story, and I'm sad I didn't introduce them but, yes, is now happy that he has a buddy to hang out in all these girly events).

¡Yo no soy de despertarme super temprano, pero un brunch de fin de semana me convence! Mi esposo, Gabe, me acompañó en este día tan ocupado. A él generalmente le cansan muchos los eventos, y solo va 5 minutos por la foto. Pero ahora tiene quien lo acompañe a estos eventos tan femeninos (uno de sus mejores amigos fotógrafos está  saliendo con una de mis mejores amigas bloggers..)

The first stop after the breakfast was the Bollare Suite. There were so many cute activities happening at this event: makeup and hair touch ups, customizing swimsuits, customizing a necklace with coordinates of your choice, tanning, and fun coconut drinks!

This event was at the 1 Hotel rooftop, with the most incredible views. We took some fun pictures at the rooftop...while trying not to melt!

Now it was time to order an Uber to Soho Beach House (20 blocks up), for a Swimsuit presentation (all Colombian brands) and then 6ShoreRoad pop up store.

La primer parada después del desayuno fue la suite de Bollare. Un evento increíble con muchas actividades: podías retocarte el maquillaje, hacer trajes de baño personalizados, collares con las coordenadas que quisieses, pasapalos,.. ¡y coquitos!

Este evento fue en el último piso del 1 Hotel; como pueden ver, con una belleza de vista. Aprovechamos y todas tomamos fotos- mientras intentábamos no derretirnos porque realmente hacía mucho calor.

Ahora nos vamos a Soho Beach House (20 cuadras más arriba) para una presentación de marcas colombianas y un evento de 6 Shore Road.

After all this running around, we got hungry. We had never been to this cute restaurant, we ordered some Brazilian Brie Cheese empanadas and some gnocchi.

Next stop? The tents for a runway show!!

Después de tanto corre-corre, nos di´ø hambre. Había un sitio con una onda muy europea que nos llamó la atención. Pedimos unas empanadas de queso brie y unos gnocchi.

¿Próxima parada? Las carpas de Funshion para una pasarela.

Quick photo group before deciding who gets the next Uber (see photo below!).

Since we were a relatively big group (remember the guys behind the camera too), we got an uberXL. It's a great affordable option for groups up to 6 people.

Since we were sharing Uber rides up and down Miami Beach, we loved using the Split Fare feature. After one person requests an Uber, in the payment section you can easily invite friends (by phone number) to divide the trip fare equally.

Btw I'm so excited that Uber has added the option to tip within the app. I never have cash on me and I think it's important to reward good service.

We still got one more show in Lincoln Road and then we all headed to Voguish Diet's house for a night of cards...such a chill plan after a crazy day (my fave type of day!)

Ya que éramos un grupo relativamente grande (recuerden a los chicos detrás de las cámaras también), pedimos un uberXL. Es la opción más económica para grupos de 6 personas.

Ya que estuvmos compartiendo viajes en Uber de arriba para abajo en Miami Beach, usamos la opción de "Split Fare" para dividir el costo entre el número de pasajeros que desees. Mucha gente no consigue esta opción: después de pedir el Uber, busca la forma de pago y ahí puedes invitar a tus contactos, quienes luego deben aceptar.

Por cierto, me alegra muchísimo que Uber recientemente añadió la opción de dejar propina a través de la misma app.

Todavía nos faltaba un show más en la Lincoln Road y después nos fuimos todos juntos a casa de mi amiga Gaby Voguish Diet a jugar  cartas, un plan muy chill después de un día de locura.

I got this dress without trying it on first...yes totally my fault. I saw it hanged at Target and grabbed immediately as a piece I knew I could wear during Swim Week.♀️

I grabbed it because I loved the print and fabric but there was something about it that just felt "boring" on me- I think it was the neckline (a little too round, the buttons where grand-ma is).

 After an hour of playing with it in the mirror (I added belts...tried wearing off the shoulder, backwards...but nothinggg), it finally came to me: why not add an edgy bralette, my favorite faux leather shorts underneath, and only close the button at the waist? 

I liked the result and I'm happy I didn't give up on it (because I was about to return it)! Don't be afraid to rethink the pieces you already own or the ones you buy.

I saw a friend wearing it over jeans and it looks SO good. Also open like an over the shoulder, I'll give it a few tries to do a remix and show you that it is all about creativity!🖤

Este vestido lo compré sin probarmelo. Yo se yo se, ¿quién me manda!?  Cuando lo vi en el gancho de Target, me llamó mucho la atención pero es que me lo imaginaba diferente.

Lo agarré porque me encanta el estampado de puntitos y la tela es ligera perfecta para el verno. Pero el cuello es muy redondo, lo cual con los botones lo hace ver un poco de abuelita en día de misa. 

 Quería ponérmelo para un evento durante #SwimWeek, y lo intenté todooo ( agregar cinturones, abrir los botones para que quedara como si fuese con los hombros al aire, al revés...) después de una hora haciendo un desastre en mi closet ( y sala y cocina), quise usarlo como si fuese un kimono/cardi.

 Abrí todos los botones dejando solo el de la cintura cerrado y agregué un bralette con muchas tiritas, y mis shorts favoritos ! Me alegra no haberme rendido con este vestido porque me sacó de mi zona de confort y me obligó a verlo de otra manera! ¡Atrévanse a jugar con las piezas de que tienen/compran y sáquenle todo el provecho!

Every year...around the 3rd week of July is Swim Week. This year was a little different because the main sponsor, IMG, decided to not be part of the main event...leaving everyone confused. Many people even cancelled their trips because they thought it wasn't happening or that it was going to be a mess...the second part was a little true, it was messier than previous years. The problem? Many shows were at the same time AND on different locations...which made it impossible to attend many things (specially when you add the Miami traffic into the equation). I personally attended few shows for many reasons...as many of you already know I'm shy and running around trying to attend 5 shows per hour is...well I'll leave that for the extroverted kind (nothing bad about it!). I just prefer to stay in one event and have actual conversations with bloggers that are now actual friends! I wore this the first day, I went to an event for Sol De Janeiro ( a super cool Brazilian brand that I will tell you more later), to the Wildfox presentation, and then to have dinner with Kelly Saks and Flor de Maria. We all had a blast together!

For my outfit, since it was so hot and all events are mostly outdoors, I went for light combos. This romper is from a Miami boutique called OHM...very cool and very bohemian. To dress it up I added some high heels, my baby Chanel, and a dark lipstick!

La tercera semana de Julio generalmente es la Semana de la Moda Swim en Miami. Este año fue un poco diferente porque el patrocinador principal, IMG, decidió no ser parte de las actividades de este año...dejando a muchas marcas a la deriva.  El problema: todo fue un poco más desorganizado de lo normal y muchos eventos eran a la misma hora que otros...causando que faltara mucha gente. Yo fui a muy poco shows por varias razones: 1. yo soy más tímida de lo que se imaginan, y ese corre corre es para gente extrovertida. 2. Prefiero compartir con bloggers- que ya son amigas, ir a comer, y pasarla bien en UN evento que intentar ir a 5 por hora.  Esto fue lo que utilicé el primer día para ir a un evento de Sol de Janeiro (una nueva marca de productos de belleza de Brasil que les va a encantar...pronto les contaré más), de ahí fuimos al show de Wildfox, y a cenar junto a Kelly Saks y Flor de Maria.

En cuanto al look, quise usar este romper de OHM BOUTIQUE, una boutique en Miami que tiene cosas hermosas...especialmente si te gusta el look relajado y un poco bohemio. Para hacer el romper más elegante lo combiné con unas sandalias altas, mi Chanel, y un labial oscuro.

Hey everyone! Sadly, this is the last tutorial from the Swim Week Series of hairstyles I learned with the TRESemmé team. Even though this was filmed during the middle of the summer, these hairstyles work perfectly all year round. That whole  Swim Week was hectic; but Saturday was, by far, the craziest day. I started very early in the morning for a breakfast, then a couple of events, runway shows at night, and after parties.

On Saturday, I met with TRESemmé hairstylist Marco Peña- we have worked together before and he’s absolutely a sweetheart. As soon as he saw me, he was like “you have so much product in your hair…time to shower!” So I hopped in the shower and used the Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner. Marco explained to me the importance of having a strong foundation when styling your hair, and using the right shampoo and conditioner is the first step. Then he gave me the best tips about how to blow dry your hair correctly and taught me an easy hairstyle.

DAY LOOK: bohemian braids with braid crown.

-Use Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner to prep the hair and provide a foundation for a frizz-free, sleek look. 

- Blow dry using a large barrel brush. Start blow drying the front part of your hair first- instead of the usual back first.

- For extra volume on the top of your head, place a roller and pin it to the top.

-Use an appropriate sized curling iron and create curls all over your head.

-For a flexible yet long lasting hold, spray on TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray all over your hair.

- Using a fine-tooth comb, tease the top portion in layers of your hair to create some volume on top for this half up, half down look

- Start by braiding the left side of your hair to the middle and then the right side of your hair to the middle. Connect the two braids and secure with bobby pins

-Finish off and seal the look with TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray.

Later that day, I changed to my night-time dress and I met with TRESemmé stylist Tyler Laswell. I explained to him that I wanted my hair up since I wanted to show the neckline of the dress I was wearing as well as the earrings. So we came up with a cool braided updo, which may look complicated but I assure you, it was extremely easy to do!

NIGHT LOOK: double braid up-do

- Use a drop of the Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème to smooth down hair and keep your frizz in control.

- Start by french braiding the right side of your hair all the way to bottom, securing with an elastic at the end.

- Repeat on the left side to create the second braid.

- Twist the two braids around to form the braided updo and pin with bobby pins as you go along. The braids will find its natural groove and move in the way it wants.

-Make sure to tuck the ends into your hair. 

- You can loosen the braids a bit by pulling it apart, and spray with TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray to lock in the style all day!

Hola a todas! Hoy les traigo el último tutorial que aprendí durante la Semana de la Moda en Miami junto al equipo de TRESemmé. Aunque ya va más de un mes desde la grabación de estos videos, estos peinados funcionan todo el año. Esa semana completa fue una locura; pero el sábado fue el día más loco. Empecé muy temprano en la mañana en un desayuno- corrí a varios eventos y después en la tarde a pasarelas y fiestas. 

Ese sábado me reuní con el estilista de TRESemmé Marco Peña en la mañanita- hemos trabajado juntos anteriormente y lo admiro muchísimo. Apenas me vió me obligó a ducharme porque tenía demasiado producto en mi cabello del día anterior. Así que brinqué a la ducha y utilicé el shampú y acondicionador Keratin Smooth. Marco me explicó la importancia de empezar con una buena base- si usas un buen shampú y acondicionador...ya todo es más fácil. Pero ya, empecemos con el tutorial.

LOOK DE DIA: ondas bohemias con una corona de trenza

- Usa el shampú y acondicionador Keratin Smooth para crear una buena base y obtener un cabello libre de frizz.

- Seca tu cabello con un cepillo grande. Empieza secando la parte de adelante en vez de empezar como hacemos regularmente con el cabello de atras.

- Si quieres volúmen, puedes utilizar rollos- los cuales puedes conseguir en cualquier farmacia.

- Si se te hace difícil hacer ondas con el secador, utiliza un rizador.

- Aplica una laca como TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray para que las ondas te duren todo el día.

- Separa las ondas con un cepillo, y también puedes utilizarlo para batir algunas capas y crear volúmen.

- Para el detalle de la coronita de trenzas, solo haz dos trenzas pequeñas de cada lado. Conectalas y asegúralas con horquillas.

- Finaliza el look con un poco más de TRESemmé TRES two hairspray.

En la tarde/noche, me puse un vestido más arregladito y me encontré con Tyler Laswell, también estilista de TRESemmé. Le expliqué que quería utilizar el cabello recogido para mostrar el vestido y los zarcillo o aretes. Así que se nos ocurrió este recogido que, aunque parece complicado, no lo es. 

LOOK DE NOCHE: recogido de dos trenzas.

- Aplica una gotita de Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème para mantener el frizz bajo control.

- Divide tu cabello en dos partes- puede ser por la mitad o de lado.

- Haz una trenza francesa en uno de los lados. Trenza hasta al final y asegura la trenza con una colita o elástica.

- Repite en el otro lado para crear una segunda trenza.

- Haz un nudo con las dos trenzas y empieza a girarlas como quieras. Asegúralas con horquillas.

- Esconde las puntas de la trenza.

- Abre las trenzas con tus dedos para que se vean más grandes.

- Finaliza con un poco de laca como TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray  para que las trenzas se mantengan intactas toda la noche.

La semana "Swim" oficialmente terminó el lunes; aunque mucha gente regresó a su vida normal ese día  y eso llevó a que el caos en las pasarelas no fuese tanto. Mi día empezó un poco más tarde- por lo que pude relajarme un rato en la piscina antes de ir- en el show de Zingara, Sauvage y Naila. De ahí seguí a 6 Shore Road; el cual fue uno de mis favoritos...el estilismo y la ropa fue un espectáculo. Después estuve detrás de bastidores con la diseñadora y viendo todas las piezas de cerquita- más enamorada aún. Luego terminé mi Semana de la Moda Swim con una karaoke en el Standard junto a Pavan- después les muestro más fotos de eso. Para mi día quise usar estos pantalones super cómodas de la colección de Rachel Zoe y mi top favorito de Furor Moda. Y con eso concluímos el diario de estilo de Swim Week...espero que les hayan gustado todos los outfits! Abrazos inmensos!!

It's official, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim craziness just started in Miami- and what better way to start that with a party with Roxy at the hotel where all the official shows aregoing to be happening. I got there relatively early because I'm going to be working with TRESemmé for 3 days- they are doing easy hairstyles on me, I'm recording them so I can bring you extremely cool and easy to do tutorials. For the first day we went with a side braid, a little bit of volume on top, and natural texture on the side. This was perfect because it was raining a lot and curls would fall in two seconds. The stylist only used bobby pins, an elastic, and TRESemmé hair spray. You'll see how easy it is to do.

For my outfit: I haven't been planning my everyday looks- bad idea. You see me running around like crazy before heading out there. I ended up wearing a dress underneath a leather-panel skirt with statement accessories like this big necklace and the cool cage sandals.

This was one of the hardest looks to photograph ever because of the rain. I had to wait two hours to even try to go outfit and shoot it. But it's all worth it, I love sharing a piece of my life with you!

Es oficial, empezó la locura de Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim en Miami- y que mejor manera de empezar que con una fiesta de la marca Roxy en el hotel donde van a estar ocurriendo todas las pasarelas y shows oficiales.  Ayer llegué en la tarde a la playa ya que voy a estar trabajando con TRESemmé 3 días...la mejor parte: me van a peinar y luego yo voy a hacer unos pequeños tutoriales sobre como hacer los peinados. Para el primer día quisimos hacer una trenza de lado, un poco de volúmen al frente y dejar mi textura caer lo más natural posible del otro lado. Fue perfecto porque cualquier tipo de rizos se me caen en esta humedad. El estilista solo utilizo ganchitos, una cola/elástica, y laca de cabello TRESemmé. Ya verán que fácil es!

 Sobre mi look: no he estado planeando mis outfits con tiempo, entonces me ven corriendo como una loca antes de salir del apartamento. Esta vez utilicé un vestido blanco como camisa, una falda con un panel de cuero, y los accesorios llamativos: un collar grandotote y unas sandalias de tiritas.

Les tengo que contar que este es uno de los looks que más nos ha costado fotografiar, estuvo lloviendo por dos horas antes de poder salir a tomarlas (por eso se ven todas oscuras y grises :().

THE EVENT: ROXY SURF PARTY

Sadly, we missed a couple of events that we were planning on going because of the rain- we couldn't even get out of the hotel. By the night time it was so much better.... well, all the streets were flooded but that's how it is in Miami Beach. I had so much fun at the Roxy Surf Party; I got to see all my amazing Miami bloggers... I love spending time with them. But that's it for today, I have to get ready for today!!

Lamentablemente la lluvia no nos dejó ir a dos eventos que teníamos en mente- no podíamos ni salir del hotel. Para la noche ya estaba mucho mejor (bueno todas las calles inundadas...pero que se va a hacer), y seguimos para la fiesta de Roxy. La pasamos super, a mi me encanta reunirme con las bloggeras de Miami y compartir con ellas. Bueno, me voy porque me tengo que vestir que el día de hoy va a ser más loco que ayer. ABRAZOS!!
