8 FASHION TRENDS TO TRY IN 2016

Every year I sit down and I write my New Year's Resolutions. Besides including the basics (eating better and exercising more), I always add trying new fashion and beauty trends.  As I like to say, fashion is supposed to be fun...it's not about following trends but having fun with those you like. Think of the new year as a chance for a NEW YOU. Dare to be different, dare to express who you are through clothes, and dare to go after your dreams while looking extra stylish.

Today I'm going to talk about 8 fashion trends that you should give it a try in 2016. I made sure that all the items in the "shop the look" section were under $150 (trying to keep it as affordable as possible!). Let me know which one is your favorite (or if I missed your favorite) and how would you wear it!

Todos los años me siento a escribir mis propósitos de año nuevo. Aparte de escribir las resoluciones clásicas de comer mejor y hacer más ejercicio, siempre escribo algunas tendencias de moda y belleza que me gustaría  probar. Siempre les digo que la moda no es algo superficial, es una manera de expresar quien eres.. y que mejor momento que reinventarte que este nuevo año. Atrévete a ser diferente, a probar tendencias fuera de tu zona de confort , y atrévete a ir detrás de tu sueños (mientras te ves fabulosa).

Hoy les voy a hablar de 8 de mis tendencias favoritas que considero que deben probar en el 2016...estas tendencias fueron de las más vistas en las pasarelas de muchos diseñadores. También añadí debajo de cada tendencia diferentes opciones- intenté que todas costarán menos de $150. Cuéntenme que tendencia es tu favorita, o si hay alguna que debí haber incluido... y como la usarías. ¡Besos!

1) GRAPHIC STRIPES

If you are looking to make a statement in 2016, graphic stripes are the way to go: the bolder and the more colorful, the better. I love the Double Zero B&W striped coat linked below!

Si quieres probar una tendencia que llame mucho la atención en el 2016, busca piezas con rayas grandes, coloridas y llamativas.  A mi me gustó mucho el abrigo de Double Zero de rayas blanco y negro..y espero que en un par de meses salga una opción parecida pero corrtita al vestido de Ferragamo <3 (díganme si no es perfecta para usar en un sitio tropical en el verano)

2) LINGERIE INSPIRED

From the bedroom...to the street! This season take your lingerie-inspired OUT and ABOUT! Look out for simple slip silk dresses with lace details.

Del dormitorio... ¡a la calle! Esta temporada se vieron muchísimos vestidos de seda estilo lingerie. Te recomiendo aquellos con toques de encaje para que se vean aún más sexys y femeninos.

3) THE COLD SHOULDER

I absolutely love anything that exposes the shoulder area; it can be a full off-the-shoulder top, a halter,  a sweater with shoulder cut-outs. I think it is such a sexy silhouette and can be worn from day to night!

Creo que esta es mi tendencia favorita de la lista, me encanta cualquier camisa o vestido que deje los hombros al descubierto. ¡ Es una silueta muy sexy que puede usarse del día a la noche!

4) UNEXPECTED DENIM

In Fashion School, I took two Fashion History classes...we really went deep into the names of styles from Mesopotamia to modern day. On my last final, I was asked "name a trend/style that we will be remembered by in 500 years". Without a question I said denim.  Ever since its invention in the late 1800s it quickly became a piece for the masses..and we continue to reinvent it season after season. This year, look for it in unexpected styles (like Gaucho pants, dressier dresses), embroidered, with patchworks, etc

Cuando estaba estudiando moda, vi dos clases de Historia de Moda (¡y aprendimos los nombres de las grandes piezas en tendencia desde la época de Mesopotamia!). En el examen final, la profesora nos preguntó que habláramos de una tendencia o estilo por el cual nos recordaran en 500 años. Sin pensarlo mucho dije que la mezclilla. Esta tela, desde que fue inventada a finales de 1800s, se ha convertido en una pieza que no puede faltar en nuestro armario (y no es que tenemos un jean, tenemos MUCHOS). Por esta razón, temporada tras temporada los diseñadores se encargan de reinventar esta tela. Este año atrévete a usarlo en estilos inesperados (como los pantalones gauchos, en vestidos que son más elegantes),  con bordados, etc

5) FLIRTY RUFFLES

If your style is very feminine, you will feel right at home with this trend. However, Alexander McQueen's Spring 2016 Collection showed us that even the edgiest girls can rock a pale pink ruffle dress.

Si tu estilo es más femenino y delicado, esta tendencia no ha salido nunca te closet. Pero, si se fijan.. el vestido de Alexander McQueen es perfecto hasta para la chica más edgy.

6) MODERN TIE DYE

When I think of tie-dye, I think of all my fails trying to dye shirts in rainbow colors as a little girl. However, this is not the crazy tie-dye from the 90s...it is the minimalistic and sophisticated version of it! Let's say it had 20 years to mature. Go for this trend in simple dresses and all colors should be in the same color palette.

Cuando pienso en el tie-dye, lo primero que se me viene a la mente son esas decenas de intentos de pintar camisas con los colores del arcoiris cuando era pequeña (les cuento que nunca me salió muy bien). Pero como pueden ver, esta tendencia no es la que vimos en los 90s...es como si en estos 25 años, la tendencia ha madurado y se convirtió en una sofisticada y elegante. Si te animas, úsala en vestidos sencillos y asegúrate que los colores del tie-dye sean de tonos similares.

7) TIME TO SHINE: Sequins & Metallics

Who says SEQUINS are only acceptable during the Holidays? I love the Tibi option, the silhouette is very casual but the sequins say "2016 is my time to shine!"

8)  STREETSTYLE BOMBER JACKETS

Say HELLO to the Spring jacket that must be your go-to jacket this season. It has a casual and cool vibe we all want in our everyday lives. There is one for every style and body type: cropped, oversized,  colorful, edgy, etc. I personally love the army green option from Missguided below.

Y Aquí les presento a la chaquetita de preferencia para esta Primavera. Tiene una onda casual y cool...es la tendencia más "street" de la lista. Hay una para todo el mundo; cortitas, con mucho volúmen, coloridas, edgy, etc. Personalmente me encanta la verde militar de Missguided abajo.
